Is there a member out there who had surgery done in Thailand for this problem?

I saw 2 so called specialists at Rutnin. Neither of these 2 ladies impressed me.

Does anybody have a recommendation for a surgeon?

I have insurance.

Chula has several specialists but Chula doesn't deal with insurance.

I have a dry eye condition and will be going to above hospital for fourth visit next month.

Would you please briefly describe your symptoms?

Who gave you your diagnosis?

I don't have dry eye condition but blocked tearduct. And yes, this has been confirmed.

This doctor at Bumrungrad specializes in it and is very well qualified - did a fellowship at  Harvadr/Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary and has published in itnernatiomnal peer reviewed journals

Many thanks Sheryl. I will go and see him. Having the op done here would be so much more convenient than back in Europe.

Just to answer your question which I just read again: diagnosis comes from 3 specialists in Europe. But any standard opthalmologist can give you the diagnosis.

When your eye tears and tears don't drain off  and after a while you get an infection i.e. your eye lashes are crusted in the morning, you feel you look through a haze all the time. the tearduct is blocked.

When the eye surgeon irrigates the tearduct, and the saline solution doesn't run down the back of your throat but down your face instead, then there is an obstruction somewhere. And yes,  you may well have dry eyes as well which trigger excessive tearing. And dry eyes can have many causes.

Btw, Dr Paradorn at St Louis eye clinic is good at cleaning out the tearduct should you have such a problem.

I went to see Dr. Keerati today. My impression was very good esp. as he suggested a way to hopefully avoid surgery. There are drops to reduce/prevent excessive tearing. These can be used until I leave this world if the drops work. In addition I need to get the tearduct flushed every 2 to 3 months.

This was good news for me, and I will give it a go.

Dr Keerati pointed out that his colleague (Dr Nattawut?) would do the op as he has more experience.

I bought the meds from Bum despite being overpriced.

The imho rip off is that this pseudo eye check they do without asking appeared on the bill with 649 Bht. I didn't need it nor want it and I stopped when they wanted me to read some nos. on the wall. Beware.

Believe such a test is normal in any hospital - even had such to qualify for a bladder operation at a government facility.  For my normal hospital it will be BP/computer vision/computer pressure/manual eye test before any opthamologist visit.  Cost will be more at some facilities but believe all run the same tests.

This may be.  If they do it for free no problem. Why pay for something which is not relevant to the condition. Whether I can read the nos. or not has nothing to do with my tearduct.   It doesn't get done in Singapore, nor at the specialist I use at an eye clinic back home.
