Phuket Immigration clarifies TM28, 24-hour reporting ‘exceptions’

PHUKET: Phuket Immigration Chief Col Kathathorn Kumthieng clarified to The Phuket News today (Sept 16) a notice posted by the Immigration Bureau announcing that certain visitors to Thailand no longer need to report their change of address.

 

The notice, posted on Friday (Sept 13), read, “During the visit to Thailand, for purposes of tourism sports, business, investments, education, practicing of skilled craftsmen or specialists, aliens are not required to notify the competent official in case of moving their residence.”

 

Col Kathathorn this morning admitted that the announcement may be confusing.

And those who visit with the intention to commit terrorist activity, crime, fraud, have skipped bail or any other illegal activity must still submit details of their where abouts.....as they of couse would.

So expats or those well off enough just live here indefinitely on multi visas are more likely to be terrorists? Well perhaps if they are treated like this i guess thats a possibility down the road.

 

Example: my neighbour called the police and said i hit him, which aint true at all.

I waited for the police to arrive and beat him and his dum friend. Felt good!!

That looks like they have tossed a bone to those working with WPs but retired expats are still in limbo, for now at least. Guess this deflects the ire of business which was obviously strong but they don't appear to want to fully 180 it for everyone just yet.

Been on multiple threads already but I'll just feed it here too: retirees and marriages were added after 1979 and nobody bothered to add them to the TM28 exemption list as per immigration act clause 37, that's why they are not on this poster. Which means, people here on non-imm O (O as in 'Other', the categories that were added after 1979, including marriage and retired) are supposed to go to BiB every time they travel to a province for over 24 hours or change residence to a new police precinct.

 

It's far more inane than the TM30 that's already utterly useless. Sections 37 (3) and (4) in the immigration act: http://library.siam-legal.com/thai-law/thai-immigration-act-temporary-stay-in-the-kingdom-sections-34-39/

Good news, but I already had my local office confirm that on a business visa I don't have to report every time I travel between my home and office in Bangkok and my home in Phuket which I travel back to most weekends.

So this is the TM28 one. Is there even a form for reporting that? Notice Retirement and Marriage visa are not exempt. Pure 100% BS from Immigration Department and anotherway they can collect fines. They think it so clever.

I report to Sriracha, if I leave Thailand with reentry am I still required to report within 24 hours?, when I return.

there's a form for everything the form for tm 28 reports is form tm28, 

 

a lot of fuss and complaints over nothing who does a tm 28 form, answer only the few.

TM28 is you reporting your movement, TM30 is a property reporting your stay.

Just to clarify, What is the enfourcement of not doing a TM28 in Phuket.

Is a TM28 receipt required to do 90 day reports, Res Cert, extensions, etc?

 

It appears that in Phuket TM28 is required for marriage, retire etc BUT how and when do they check ? is there a fine or refusal of service etc.

What is the penalty, if any, for not doing a TM28 in Phuket ?????
