Best all-rounder 4 door (double cab) pick-up these days

To the OP, Nowadays honestly it really boils down to personal preference, all these trucks are made well and tend to last a long time. There are loyalist to brands and rightfully so. 

 

I think items to consider are;

• Service reviews of the dealership in your local area.
• Ergonomics in the cab (This is what differentiates most nowadays) 
• Comfort and features. 
•  Exterior styling is personal preference so get what you like.

As for me,  early on I was a Chevrolet loyalist in the states, owned quite a few. However their quality took a nose dive and I wanted a reliable smaller truck and switched to the Toyota Tacoma and never went back. Moving here full time for work I purchased a Toyota Hilux and have not been disappointed at all. Now in fairness I always modify my vehicles and having a Toyota makes it that much easier. Aftermarket parts are abundant.

The nissan was rubbish after 60k in Turkey, they had to replace the fleet.

Best work truck ever was a Mitsubishi

All of them over the years have gotten worse as work trucks, as they are built for a more consumer base now.

more plastic less steel, more electronics, that when they go south on you the vehicle is done.

When it comes to my own money I bought a Ford,

BEST WAY go out and try them all for a  good 10-20km I did.

Yes there is, an  bigger  engine sizes are now  falling  to 2.5 and 2.0, better  fuel economy and just as much oooomph  with extra  gears

They had  no end of problems in the UK inc  bearings meaning total engine  failure, then there were the chassis rails fracturing in half  also, I think it  too has a  bi turbo

Take your open opinion on pickups to the dealerships, do a few test drives, maybe rent one or two and make up your own mind rather than question someone who is obviously happy with his own choice.

Check out online reviews from Australia they have the same models. The trucks are probably made in Thailand too.

Reviews are usually about new rides, what we should be interested in is what problems rides have after a few years....

Now for me, I would not get involved with a Ford 10 speed in LOS, and probably the bi-turbo too. In the USA I might feel a little different....

Mmmm in the gold mines of west Africa they bought a load of Ford Rangers as they were cheaper than Toyota. Most of them never clocked above 40,000 klms ( fell apart). The worst issue for maintenance guys was the on board computer in the Ford each time you change out electrical items ( even a humble light globe) they would not work unless you had the computer interface test set to reset conditions. So we had many Fords running around with few lights working; dangerous in night and dusty conditions. Now the contract manager has gone back to Toyota.

It seems, but it is early days of course, the new MG Extender (LDV based)  might be a good choice.

Looked it over, not driven it, heard the engine, sat in it.

He was just suggesting something,  as you where asking for comfort and saying yourself no heavy loads . So thats why suggesting an SUV they have much more comfort and you can put a bikerack on the back . So maybe a bit more respect ,with your back to topic comment and underscored pick-up .

I’ve a Revo 2.8G it’s 3 1/2 years old 52500 Ks. It’s been dealer serviced and I’ve never had a problem with it. I fill it up but it’s never used any oil, I find the ride ok however I seem to recall that the Fortuner rear suspension fits if you don’t like the ride. It’s 2x4 and drives ok on and of road. It’s going to be our last waggon but if I was going to replace it it would be with an other Revo.

Why theyre   all made in Thailand and the reviews  would be in English for the phillipines and Australia, U.S  sites have  slagged  off the Ranger a bit heres a  test that said  what I did, wallowly handling which was my main complaint  on my test drives other sites  loved the handling not for me though.

Chevy is a hard ride, in terms of interior and comfort , ranger is better . Also I recall but not 100%, I believe rangers are water proof underneath , can drive through floods.

If your thai is fluent enough have plenty and all also top reviews , hence the reason for rangers selling well and now seen every where on the roads .i believe it’s moved to 3rd place already in Thailand

Test drove the Raptor which was a nice ride because of the suspension. Otherwise it was just a Wildtrack. 

It would have driven better with the 3.2.
