B10k reward offered to catch Phuket thief

PHUKET: A lawyer on holiday with family members for the Phuket Vegetarian Festival is offering a B10,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of a thief who stole jewellery and other valuables from her car parked outside her hotel on her first night in Phuket.

 

Lt Col Sakon Krainara of the Phuket City Police was called to the scene of the car break-in, Plus Mansion located on Ruampattana Rd in Baan Kuku, Rassada, at 9am yesterday (Oct 6).

 

At the scene he and other officers found the lawyer, Kaewjai Khunduea, 45, standing beside her black Bangkok-registered Nissan Sunny with one if its doors open in the car park, where about 20 other cars were parked.

All suspicious.  She routinely leaves ATM cards and jewelry in a parked car?  Ah BS.  Thais hold on to and wear their jewelry as a way of showing off.

I don't believe it was a setup as you're implying. It was simply stupidity to leave a car door open. Car theft is hardly a problem here, but leaving a door open in a public space is asking for issues.

Why would she want goods stolen from her car deliberately? As a lawyer she'd be aware that theft without forcible or violent entry or exit would not be covered under an insurance policy and theft from unattended vehicles is also often excluded.

 

Probably didn't want to take valuables to a crowded procession, which is sensible. Agree with stevenl, just a silly and costly oversight.

Wait, isn't offering a reward to catch a perp usually the first thing one does when going to the police ( tongue in cheek) when you want them to do something?

put them in the room safe?  It almost sounds like a deal gone wrong trying to sell some stuff, and then a vain attempt at robbery theft claim.  Just because she claims to be a lawyer does not mean she knows anything about this type of crime
