another stupid tax hike

what do you see, mostly big bikes or those old polluters that pass by and leave a stench of burned petrol that pollute the air ?

what about all those black fuming trucks, busses, diesel farmer trucks

Just what I was thinking.

Let's go after big bike and leave the old diesel, black smoke belching buses and sugar cane trucks alone.

Yep, and here it is. The new regime government money grabbing and hitting at all Thai. This is just the beginning. 90% oif al lbikes????? More than that.

Now this is a huge hit and slap at people wanting bigger bikes. Don't know how the big bike manufacturers will take to this. Maybe they will move their factories out of Thailand? Will this also cover a resale registration tax once they think of it?

How is this number calculated? Has to be wrong.

This is huge.

Too many people at the trough and too much military items to buy and not enough money?

This taxing is already out of control on all subject matter. They are grabbing money in all areas they can see for the taking. Thailand is now in a spiral going down.

Hello, Harley Davidson. Welcome to Thailand. Hope you are enjoying your new factory. Oh! by the way.........

Unbelievable. Soon, I'll have to pay a couple of hundred baht more but countless Diesel engines and TukTuks can continue to pollute this country.

No laws that black smoke exhausting Diesel engines have to get their pumps and nozzles checked, nope. people with big bikes have to pay the bill because they can afford it?

One more insanity in the Land of Insanity.

Wow we have a Thailand factory to save costs.... Sweet... NOT! Thailand just keeps shooting themselves in the foot.

Much easier to tax the new machinery passing their noses than try to fine or police smoke belching buses, trucks and unroadworthy vehicles etc. passing these noses as well.

I'll say again:- Thailand has the politicians it deserves after the Junta corrupted election!

The most stupid post is the above one. But keep following the muppets... or are they now the Greta's (whose father makes his money gambling on renewable energy stocks)

Have you watched the Tambora Volcanoe documentary? Gas emissions from one eruption caused world wide famine, cholera epidemics, extreme winters et al. Even changes in government policies.

The planet is doing fine, thank you, and will be here eons after the human pests have disappeared.

This guy has just made a big fool out of himself. And people like him are in charge for their country.

You can't make this stuff up.

Triumph too. Now looking to relocate I believe, as are many others. The Thai Summit auto parts manufacturer closure is just the tip of a very large iceberg.

Over the weekend I was with a friend who has been charged with a feasibility study of building British designed motorbikes in Thailand, following the popularity of Triumph in Thailand and Royal Enfield in India.

My gf showed him this news and he refused to believe it, until last night the article was regurgitated in English.

Needless to say he's gutted and looking elsewhere.

Climate, CO2 emissions, AGW and so on are the go-to way to raise taxes all over the world now. Want to tax beer - all that CO2 from fermentation makes it a climate threat. Meat? Cow farts! Vegetables? Hey dude - leave that stuff in the ground where it can keep cleaning the air!

Bikes are basically clean since the introduction of electronic fuel injection.... And significantly more clean than diesel trucks. Just a money grab from a government that is getting deeper into trouble with every passing day.

At the risk of being called 'negative' - this is just another small bump on the rocky road to Thailand's economic collapse.

I guess that is very negative really - please someone tell me of all the positive economic policies that are being made by the Thailand Government/Junta that will definitely lead to economic prosperity and growth for LOS in the future.  Surely Harley et al moving to Vietnam? will be a good thing - right?

But it's no problem that half Bangkok drives a SUV or Pickup with far to big or even racing engines...and the ancient buses are no problem, the ancient riverboats aren't....and burning plastic in the garden is also a great idea.

Do some homework.

Although much less abundant than nitrogen and oxygen in Earth's atmosphere, carbon dioxide is an important constituent of our planet's air. A molecule of carbon dioxide (CO2) is made up of one carbon atom and two oxygen atoms. Carbon dioxide is an important greenhouse gas that helps to trap heat in our atmosphere.

Tax the big bikes, but don't change any laws about where they can drive (main roads, bridges, toll roads, ...).  Current laws are for 250cc bikes and smaller.  New laws would reduce traffic accidents too.

It is getting more and more expensive to live in Thailand and enjoy a decent lifestyle.

It is 50% more expensive to buy a Thai built Triumph in Thailand than in the UK, and that is about to get even more expensive.

Insanity.

New laws won't have any effect without competent enforcement.

New laws would get big bikes mostly out of the left most lane which is by far the most dangerous.  Riding on main roads is safer than riding on frontage roads in the left lanes.

The tax has little to do with CO2 as they were going to tax them on engine size originally. They are still basically taxing on engine size as one model of 999cc bike may well emit more CO2 than another model of 1001cc bike.

Just wow.... Big bikes are vilified and this is any easy cash grab. Will do nothing to address pollution in the land of sm(og)iles

Meanwhile the diesel pickups that bellow out thick black smoke are OK ......

You've got it in one... but then common sense has never prevailed when making new tax laws.

This has nothing to do with pollution control.. it's just a revised revenue stream.

Nice scam

Cars and bikes here are well overpriced already and they add more taxes, Pushing Thailand back to stoneage again.

The global cooling, er, global warming, er, climate change scam is just another tool being used by greedy governments to separate money from its citizens. Said tax money will go into bureaucratic pockets and us proles will just have to pay up and shut up. I think it's time to start sharpening the guillotine blade.

I have a sale on tin foil hats.  Yes plants benefit from CO2 - unfortunately oceans dont do too well with high concentrations nor do humans.  Ecosystems have poor ability to adapt to such high rates of change.

Stupid is as  stupid  does, so how  many cars are over 1000cc as  well, honestly they are a total an utter bunch of (insert expletive of  choice) more Co2 BS for the masses to lap up

they really do make fools of themselves

uneducated idiots running this country trying to justify their existence with continuous nonsense - if only they realised how stupid they look, it's monty python level comedy that if intended would be a masterpiece
