Sunday's loy krathong parade

Featured Replies

Hi, does anyone know the route and times of Sunday's parade? Most importantly what times the roads close. Have to drive back from the old city(DK books) at 4pm and someone said the roads will be closed then. Thanks for any information.

The big night parade, according to the schedule posted on the Chiangmai municipal website, is on Tuesday night (the 12th).  There are some opening ceremony events tonight (9th) at Three Kings.  I'm not aware of any parade on Sunday and the posted schedule doesn't indicate any.

Beside Muang Mai market facing the river the seating that normally gets set up for the parade is already in place. Can't help on timing

I'm going to try to post an url to the posted schedule:   Loy Krathong Schedule

As to the route of the big parade, it's the same....from east on Thaphae Road from Thaphae Gate and then to the city municipal office on the river.

Edit:  The schedule (English version) is the one on the right.

Many many ways to leave the city

Just don't pick that one

Cheers cmbob for that, there does seem to be a thing from thapae to pantip but says it starts at 7pm. Hopefully the roads won't be closed but at 4pm.
