.......as in “Banned Again. Say it slowly it kinda works. Even more so as he comes from Dagenham.

I just had a flashback of DB crying uncontrollably. I don’t think I will sleep tonight now.

About 6 years back I was visiting Songkhla for work and I stayed at the big rundown hotel next to the mermaid statue on the beach. I checked the tv channels and coronation street was on (I think it was on an Ozzie channel). I hadn't seen coronation street in decades - had to tear myself away from it to get down to the Irish bar. Is Ken Barlow still in it?

He's still in it. Longest running actor in any soap in the world I think.

I’ve no idea, haven’t set eyes on it for years but seems so according to Bluesofa.

Is she still alive? ????

Anyway, back on topic...????

Having my morning cuppa PG.

Temperature is 25°C, feels cool outside, a bit of fon rin last evening, but nowt like the storms of the last few days.

Not much to say really; life goes on. Contented, happy.

Pint of Guinness wouldn't go amiss, though.

Yup, Ena Sharples was in the Rovers only last week,

It's 26°C here - that's from weather.com, I've not even looked outside yet, curtains still drawn (had a pencil handy).

The wonders of social media...we went from Rumak's stirring "Give me liberty or give me death!" to 'Coronation Street' in only a couple of posts.

I refrain from commenting on Jason and Kylie and hope that Old Badger emerges from his burrow soon...

That's funny, I thought about throwing a reference in to those two in for good measure.

The link between the two soaps? Bishop - we've had Harold Bishop and Emily Bishop.

These are now the extra years we have .......... for taking such good care of ourselves

used to be scrabble,  in the old days ( before internet)

now ...... its google

Mr Google has a lot to answer for !!

Despite being a jolly good source of knowledge it has turned a lot of ( high ) school dropouts , like myself, into smart quick thinking intellectuals, not !!

The playground for Mr Owls recent demise I am guessing, the most debated current subjects ( masks and vax ) on the forum , is a furiously fast game of fact ping pong “ ,  the object of the game is to trump ( not the orange one ! ) your opponents facts or links with a more superior version damning their feeble attempt into the ground !!

I often think the top players playing this game of “ my Google is faster than your Google “ have two devices open, a laptop and a smartphone for faster replying, the winner usually spent a few baht on an additional monitor for his computer so as to enable the TVF thread and Google are open simultaneously and in max screen size so he can come back with the ultimate rebuttal in a nanosecond !!

The loser goes a link too far and posts a “ reliable “ attachment from some flatearthers , or similar, website and …….. well …. we all know what happens next !!

But don’t despair !, his lieutenant picks up the flag and charges forward relentlessly ????

I read a lot of these threads, I could stop at the title and opening post as that is usually all the info i need but usually continue on for the novelty value alone .

and thus......"keyboard warriors"  are born.      good summation AD  (Anthony Davis ? )

I wonder how many school kids of today realise how lucky they are to have Mr Google to assist in homework ?

Most of us on here we’re schooled in an era when a common calculator was unheard of and arithmetic had to be done at the expense of a pencil and sheets of paper, the answers to “ name the capital of Peru “ or who wrote Beethoven’s 5th Symphony” ( ???? ) meant we had to search our options .

A quick stroll down to the library was the most reliable way to achieve the answers but that meant physical exercise and it was raining outside !!

Dads or Grandads were another option but not always reliable or willing to offer the answers if they had to trudge down to the library ….. in the rain !!

The smarter witted kids knew that a couple of Spangles would be enough to persuade Spotty Johnson to supply the answers to some of these questions on the school bus home ( or back to school the next morning for the lazier ones ) . Of course, threats of physical violence were always a back up plan !

“Write an essay on …. “ was a dreaded phrase for many kids and meant hours spent plagiarising library books or death threats for Spotty Johnson !!

Art homework !!, well that was an impossible task unless you had siblings willing to help, I dared not even ask my two older brothers as it would have surely ended up with an Indian burn or a “ dead leg “ !! Obviously getting on the school bus with a monstrosity made from Weet-a-bix boxes and lolly sticks was not going to happen so after the “ sorry Miss , my dog ate my homework “ ploy had failed miserably I had to run the risk of detention or a visit to the “ Head “( headmaster for our American readers ! ).

I have seen some younger Thai relatives making some art projects as homework so I guess things haven’t moved on too far in that respect. But the older ones are usually seated at the family laptop or scrolling furiously on mums Android looking round to see if “ I can see your voice has started yet !! “.

The debate on whether kids nowadays are more intelligent due to the facility in obtaining answers from the Net or it is all just fleeting knowledge that doesn’t stick is a large one and not for here .

Maybe I will start a thread on it  ????

Ehjoyed the very familiar walk down memory lane with that one ! ????

Yeah man..it was heavy man..all the millennials suddenly decided to vacate the internet for 57 seconds and take a dump whilst their Gen Xer parents commenced to dial for the Prozac man...

A true crisis in which Western civilization disappeared down the boghole..
