Winxp Backup Question

Most likely it is being written to (from the Internet) at the same time it is backing up and thus won't verify correctly on the verification pass. Might try the backup in Safe mode and disconnected from the Internet and see if it does the same.

If you use the Windows XP Backup, you should close ALL open programs, incl. AntiVirus and Adware and Spy Software and disconnect from the Internet was well, as tywais wrote.

Why you don't use a 3. party backup software? Do once a full backup and late on just a incremental backup for new and changed data! There is also a lot FREE backup software available which has this functions. Google for FREE BACKUP SOFTWARE!

That file that it's referring to is nothing to be worried about.

It's just part of an installer to an update that you already got.

This is what I was thinking (and hoping) as well. I use shadow copy.

What made me wonder is that I got a read error (see screenshot in OP) on this file which could indicate a bad sector on the HDD but this PC is only 3 months old.

And yes I run the backup with network and all non-essential programs off.

Thanks for all your replies. :o
