Farmers protest ban on three chemicals

A group of farmers dressed in black gathered in front Government House today (November 26) to submit a petition to Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha stating their opposition to the banning of Paraquat, Chlorpyrifos and Glyphosate, and explaining they wanted to continue using the chemicals under the proper procedures.

Wilawan Phayanoi, deputy director-general of the Comptroller General's Department announced on Tuesday (November 26) that her office has received several complaints about an unknown individual calling from a cell phone claiming to be an officer of the department and asking the recipients for bank account numbers, saying that the government will transfer Bt2,000 as one of schemes to help low income earners.

Thais are receiving fairer financial services compared to three years ago, the Bank of Thailand said, urging banks to make service fees fairer, raise data privacy standards when using customer information, and curb “annoying” product offerings. Promoting fair market conduct is part of BoT’s three-year strategic plan (2017-2019), said Thanyanit Niyomkarn, assistant governor, Supervision Group 2.
