I was looking at the Iseki tractor display outside the BAAC the other day and mentioned to the wife how impressed I was with the design and features of the range.   We agreed it would be  a few years before we upgrade to something new......but now the good news is we can upgrade straight away,  thanks to the government picking up 90 percent of the bin.   We can pay the other 10 cash.  So,  a big thank you to that wonderful man our esteemed PM and also to his rotund Chinese friend who acts as his deputy.   Now tell me,  will the government send the 90 percent to Iseki once the contract is signed or will Iseki have to  wait till the end of the month???

I'm interested. How does that work?

Not sure about the fine print.  I just read the thread in the news.....  But I would think anyone with enough land would have to qualify.  I think there is more info to come. Pho Ya Ban may have more info.  When Tik comes home I will get her to give him a call.

Pho Ya Ban

I tried some of that for breakfast in Vietnam the other week, it was really nice!

If only life were so good... I'm not trying to be a party pooper, but until you have the tractor in your yard I wouldn't get too excited just yet. After having read the article, it seems that on 29th of this month they will decide how many tractors will be included in the scheme, who's going to get them and for what purpose.

So, unless you are well connected you shouldn't trade in your old tractor just yet.

Does anyone have any details about these co-operatives.

Are they middlemen, unions of farmers, public or private entities.

Lets wait to see the outcome of the "rethink" meeting on the chemical ban tomorrow.

Which Australian PM said, No such thing as a free lunch ,this could be one .

Almost like Yinlucks  scheme 100 k off the price of a new small car, to help the car industry ,that never got off the ground ,a lot of people brought the car  but never got they 100 k off.

A quote from another source said.

"The scheme, initiated by the Yingluck Shinawatra government, offered tax rebates of up to 100,000 baht to first-time buyers who bought passenger cars with a maximum engine capacity of 1,500cc, or pickup trucks with unlimited engine capacity but priced at no more than 1 million baht.

They were eligible to receive the refund after owning the cars for one year on condition that they maintained ownership for at least five years.

Many people who bought their car perhaps didn't maintain ownership for 5 years, so they would not have received the 100 k baht.

Will be interesting in the days to come to see what transpires.  Would not hurt to send an email to Prayut saying "We love you longtime if you give us a tractor".  ????

It will probably be like the rubber subsidy, so many terms and limiting condition that about 6 people will qualify after jumping through all the hoops and obstacles

Ah ........free tractors. Excellent, especially as they won't have anything much left to harvest. They won't wear out so fast.

Joking aside, I would be very surprised if  someone in government has not received a back hander from the tractor manufactures for splurging tax payers money on these things.

Us farangs have read this on TV, I said to the wife this afternoon ,about the scheme  , was it on Thai TV ,had she heard about it ,she looked at me if I had said the moon was made of cheese , not heard about it and said it will be a no go .

This evening ,talking  to a Thai dairy farmer friend ,he has yet to hear about the scheme and said the same thing can not see it working ,he said like Kwonitoy how many  hoops to jump though .

Some Thai civil servant's  good idea ,with out the thinking bit ,a case of watch this space .
