I'm interested. How does that work?

Not sure about the fine print.  I just read the thread in the news.....  But I would think anyone with enough land would have to qualify.  I think there is more info to come. Pho Ya Ban may have more info.  When Tik comes home I will get her to give him a call.

If only life were so good... I'm not trying to be a party pooper, but until you have the tractor in your yard I wouldn't get too excited just yet. After having read the article, it seems that on 29th of this month they will decide how many tractors will be included in the scheme, who's going to get them and for what purpose.

So, unless you are well connected you shouldn't trade in your old tractor just yet.

A quote from another source said.

"The scheme, initiated by the Yingluck Shinawatra government, offered tax rebates of up to 100,000 baht to first-time buyers who bought passenger cars with a maximum engine capacity of 1,500cc, or pickup trucks with unlimited engine capacity but priced at no more than 1 million baht.

They were eligible to receive the refund after owning the cars for one year on condition that they maintained ownership for at least five years.

Many people who bought their car perhaps didn't maintain ownership for 5 years, so they would not have received the 100 k baht.

Will be interesting in the days to come to see what transpires.  Would not hurt to send an email to Prayut saying "We love you longtime if you give us a tractor".  ????

It will probably be like the rubber subsidy, so many terms and limiting condition that about 6 people will qualify after jumping through all the hoops and obstacles

Ah ........free tractors. Excellent, especially as they won't have anything much left to harvest. They won't wear out so fast.

Joking aside, I would be very surprised if  someone in government has not received a back hander from the tractor manufactures for splurging tax payers money on these things.
