Can a Thai citizen on a (modest) government pension get some sort of civil service medical insurance?

Featured Replies

OK it's 600 baht a month we try not to spend it all at once. But my wife was a volunteer teacher in a temple in Europe and was awarded a government pension - does this mean she qualifies for some special civil service medical insurance scheme?

That sounds like the (non-contributory) old age allowance, which is 600 baht/month.  Paid by the government, but not a government pension.

She'll be covered by the 30 baht scheme, not CSMBS (Civil Servant Medical Benefit Scheme).

OK thanks for the clarification.

The CS SS scheme is only for civil servants  contract employees and volunteers not covered. But she will be covered under the universal (AKA "30 baht").

Just noticed the work was in a temple in Europe. So nothing at all to do with Thai government in any case.

The 600 baht old age allowance is paid to all Thai citizens over a certain age if below a certain income threshold.
