youbuyshirt Posted December 1, 2019 Posted December 1, 2019 I will arrive in Pattaya on bus from Bkk with a lot of luggage. Where should I go to find a lot of cheaper rooms within close proximity to each other so I don’t have to run all over town looking? My requirements are private bathroom, refrigerator, desk or big table. Fan is okay, I don’t need A/C. Does not have to be near beach. Planning to stay 2-1/2 weeks. Thanks for suggestions. Tried the booking websites but they are a pain. I really prefer to see a room personally before reserving it. 1
FritsSikkink Posted December 1, 2019 Posted December 1, 2019 I think walking around with a lot of luggage is a lot bigger pain then have a look on a website https://www.agoda.com/pages/agoda/default/DestinationSearchResult.aspx?asq=j1%2FH5AOhJ0W3BK%2BWt020EcrD%2BH%2FEBnZa1EuX8olXarhNp72FpMSaVydWXkKzIlIiGqKI1BOaN53Vz0if59rn3dLWf%2FESC7naLD1%2BB9RBq9%2BhWqQ8OVZwmj%2FGVANGBSGdY72HwZahr%2Fz%2F2J35oVOD7xPEwWSNkrGl0FN50Lc3FEgG2az7z5fkVoU%2Fg6jHAxlubS3dzzacn%2Bn7QZeTArmFDwmv3EQRt0qRLifbkk93VJE%3D&city=8584&cid=1744603&tick=637108057333&languageId=1&userId=727e75de-7dfa-483d-bb6d-651dbdc7af7c&sessionId=tb2zxwrjitrli5om3yei4crq&pageTypeId=1&origin=TH&locale=en-US&tag=5536c5aa-eeb4-4b5e-8e0f-cfc3ff07f63f&aid=82364¤cyCode=THB&htmlLanguage=en-us&cultureInfoName=en-US&ckuid=727e75de-7dfa-483d-bb6d-651dbdc7af7c&prid=0&checkIn=2019-12-13&checkOut=2020-01-02&rooms=1&adults=1&children=0&priceCur=THB&los=20&textToSearch=Pattaya&travellerType=0&familyMode=off&sort=priceLowToHigh 2

Matzzon Posted December 1, 2019 Posted December 1, 2019 If you have read the news, you would know that Pattaya is dead. Which will probably mean you will get a room easy. 1
Popular Post sfokevin Posted December 1, 2019 Popular Post Posted December 1, 2019 If official reports are to be believed it may be tuff pickings as the whole place has been overrun by big spending Kasahstani, Indian & Chinese tourists... 5
fforest1 Posted December 1, 2019 Posted December 1, 2019 My best suggestion is take any cheap room the first day......Then walk around and find a good cheap room there are plenty of choices in Pattaya.... 2
owl sees all Posted December 1, 2019 Posted December 1, 2019 Canterbury Tales was only 350 baht a night, when I was there last; that included a decent breakfast. 1 1

And "now" means in the next days? It doesn't get easier the closer to X-Mas of course. 1

Good advice and would book in advance on the internet. I wouldn't want to walk around with heavy baggage searching for a room.
youbuyshirt Posted December 2, 2019 Author Posted December 2, 2019 Thanks for the replies. Yes, I have read that Pattaya is dead, which is why I'm so baffled that the prices are still so high on the booking sites. But I agree the best idea is to reserve a room for one night, then find a better room without carrying my luggage. 2
youbuyshirt Posted December 3, 2019 Author Posted December 3, 2019 Uh-oh. Should I avoid coming on a weekend? Do Pattaya hotel rooms get scarce on the weekends, and prices go up, due to people from Bangkok spending the weekend in Pattaya? Is this even more likely to be a problem since Thursday, 5 December is King Bhumibol's Birthday, a National holiday? And then there's another holiday on Tuesday, 10 December, Constitution Day. Does this mean a long weekend from Thursday to Tuesday and many Bangkokians heading to Pattaya, filling up the hotel rooms?
