LONDON (Reuters) - An American woman who says she was forced to have underage sex with Britain's Prince Andrew has appealed to Britons to take her side, saying that only she was telling the truth.

Virginia Giuffre says she was trafficked by the disgraced late U.S. financier Jeffrey Epstein and forced to have sex with his friends, including the British royal when she was 17 years old. Andrew categorically denies the allegations.

In an interview to be broadcast on BBC TV later on Monday, Giuffre dismissed his denials and gave details of a trip to London in 2001 when she said she was taken by Epstein to meet the prince.

"He knows what happened. I know what happened, and there's only one of us telling the truth, and I know that’s me," Giuffre told BBC Panorama in extracts released by the broadcaster.

"I implore the people in the UK to stand up beside me, to help me fight this fight, to not accept this as being ok. This is not some sordid sex story. This is a story of being trafficked, This is a story of abuse and this is a story of your guys’ royalty."

Andrew, 59, Queen Elizabeth's second son, denies the accusations or having any relationship with Giuffre, who was previously named Virginia Roberts.

In response to the excerpts of Giuffre's interview, a Buckingham Palace spokeswoman said: "It is emphatically denied that The Duke of York had any form of sexual contact or relationship with Virginia Roberts. Any claim to the contrary is false and without foundation."

Last month the prince gave an interview himself to the BBC which he hoped would draw a line under the scandal.

However, the interview was widely regarded as a disaster for the prince, provoking days of negative headlines and culminating in the prince stepping down from royal duties as charities and other organisations distanced themselves from him.

NIGHTCLUB

In her interview, which was recorded before the prince spoke to the BBC, Giuffre said she was taken to the Tramp nightclub in London by Epstein and his former associate Ghislaine Maxwell. Andrew asked her to dance, she said.

"I mean it was horrible and this guy was sweating all over me, like his sweat was like it was raining basically everywhere...," she said.

Andrew, the eighth-in-line to the throne, said he could not have had sex with Giuffre on the night she alleges because he had been to a pizza restaurant in the commuter town of Woking for a children's party.

He said he suffered from a medical condition that stopped him perspiring and cast doubt on the authenticity of a picture from 2001 which showed him with his arm around Giuffre's waist.

Andrew also said he had stayed at Epstein's home in New York after the financier had been convicted of Florida state prostitution charges because he was "too honourable" and wanted to break off the friendship in person.

Those explanations provoked derision and ridicule in newspapers and social media, while the prince was also criticised for failing to show sympathy for the victims of Epstein who killed himself in a U.S. prison in August while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.

"The people on the inside are going to keep coming up with these ridiculous excuses. Like his arm was elongated or the photo was doctored, or he came to New York to break up with Jeffrey Epstein. I mean come on I'm calling BS on this, because that’s what it is," Giuffre said.

But what I find interesting in that case and in others: Why did that woman go with him?

Did she love him? No

Was she physically forced to go with him? It seems not.

Could she have walked away? It seems yes.

Was it about money and being together with rich guys? It seems so. That's called prostitution.

It seems Epstein and Andrew did what lots of guys would do if they would have enough money: Surround themselves with lots of pretty girls and f$#% them whenever they wanted. And I am sure all those girls will have received a nice compensation because otherwise they wouldn't have done it.

1st, I have no love for the royal family, and no respect for any of them other than the Queen and to a lesser extent William and Kate who do make an effort to play their roles. BUT, this Andrew is accused of shagging 17 year old tarts, not children like Saville and Harris etc. There is a massive distinction here. Andrew should have said straight off, yes I bonked shed loads of tarts, none were younger than 16, and yes it was awesome. End of story. But no, he lies and hides behind the royal institution. Hope he gets extradited to the US and banged up in a supermax with alot of unsavoury chaps. For lying and treating us like fools, not for having sex with social climbing hookers.

Dunno what time a pizza joint closes, especially with your daughter in tow, but nightclubs, I think it's called Tramps, tend to open 11PM+ where it all started.

Lot of questions!

So giving candy to children for sex justifies it for you?

Men in a position of power have been taking advantage of their wealth, and that which it affords them, for millennium. This is nothing new. It is just that the political climate has changed. Of course Andrew is guilty. So is Clinton, and likely Trump too. I doubt if these guys hung around with Epstein because of his charm. There were dozens of references to Trump with underage women prior to the campaign on google. After the campaign started they all "disappeared". That is about as suspicious as Epstein's "suicide". It did not happen. He was taken out with certainty. He would have taken down alot of guys who live well above the law.

Deny, deny, deny, when caught. That is what these guys do. We know how guilty they are.

Well just maybe, a member of the Royal family associating themselves with a convicted sex criminal and paedophile wasn't one of Andrews greatest ideas.

You have to have broken something called a law for that, she was old enough to join the army in the UK. All this sanctimonious 'pedo' hand wringing is ridiculous, he is a liar and an idiot, not a criminal.

She said she was 15, didn't she? isn't that illegal?

The issue is she was underage at the time of alleged act.

No she was 17 but under the control of others .

she was not, 16 is the age of consent in the UK she was 17 when he banged her, in the USA the allegation she was under age in Florida was dismissed by a judge years ago. People seem to want her to have been under age.

So no age limits? How old is old enough says you?

Look at the infamous picture. Does she look like a child?

And was she paid with candies?

It seems like she knew what she was doing. And it seems she was a prostitute for rich guys.

It seems he had lots of bad ideas.

But then it seems the majority of the UK still supports that royal family...

How about the legal age of consent?

Are they the only guilty people?

Lets remember we are here in Thailand. How many of us rented a girlfriend for an hour or a night?

And isn't prostitution illegal in Thailand?

I have to admit I don't feel guilty for supporting the girls in Thailand. And I guess Epstein and his friends didn't feel guilty about giving those girls an opportunity to make a lot of money. Or did the girls do that all for free? And I didn't read anything anywhere that the girls couldn't just walk away. It seems it was their choice to work as prostitutes.

Not in the UK

For commercial sex or procuring persons the age of consent is presently 18. At the time of alleged offence the age was 21

Who forced her to get a passport? Sounds like a tramp that wanted to say she'd been to England and would do anything to get there. Now she's looking for a second payday.

This sounds as gross as the "sweating" thing.

I suspect that with the relatively long-term relationship between Epstein and the Prince, this girl is not the only one that Andrew had sex with.   He may well have had sex with an underage girl or two...or more.    Knowing that this might be opening a Pandora's Box, he made a decision to deny it all, without knowing if anyone/anything else will come out.
