Thap Lan National Park officials transferred a fully grown male hog badger to its natural habitat on Monday (December 9) after it was chased by a pack of dogs and got separated from its cete.

The hog badger is in healthy condition as it was nurtured by park officials and then taken back by boat to its natural habitat, where the “near threatened” species are usually spotted.

Villagers in Nakhon Ratchasima’s Soeng Sang district found the creature in a cassava field foraging for food.

The officials believe that drought has limited food resources in the forest and forced the badgers to seek food in new territories near residential areas.
