KUALA LUMPUR (Reuters) - Malaysia’s Mahathir Mohamad, the world’s oldest serving premier, said on Tuesday it would be a good idea for the world’s youngest prime minister, Finland’s Sanna Marin, to ask “old people” for their advice.

Marin, 34, was the sole candidate for her government’s top post after the resignation of Antti Rinne following a declaration of no confidence in him by a party in Finland’s ruling coalition.

“While we believe in the idealism of young people, it is important also for them to consider the experience of the old people,” Mahathir, 94, told Reuters in an interview.

“Then there will be a combination of the two, and that would be good.”

Marin has had a swift rise in Finnish politics since becoming head of the city council of her industrial hometown of Tampere at the age of 27. She will take over in the middle of a 3-day wave of strikes, which will halt production at some of Finland’s largest companies from Monday.

Mahathir led the Malaysian opposition to an unprecedented election win last May. It is his second stint as Malaysia’s premier, a post he previously held for 22 years from 1981 to 2003.

Or maybe she should just skip that and try getting some new blood into the old system.

She should come here to TVF. Plenty of older people willing to share their knowledge, or lack thereof.

I'm sure if she wants advice on nepotism, corruption and running a racist country he'll be the first person she asks.

Dear Old Person,

Now that you have buggered up the environment, the economy and society in general, what advice do you give a young person with no job, low education and no future?

Yours,

Young Person

Dear Young Person,

Old people have the jobs, the positions, the wealth to enjoy their lives. Why should we care about you? My advice is grab what you can get and stop worrying about others.

Old Person.

I want to see young people in goverments and take the responsibility, but start a new way, sure keep in mind the experiance of older people but have to go and create the future for their generation!

Perhaps you should review the percentage of wealth that the top preforming young have relative to their peer group and appreciate compounding interest that will see the current young rich even wealthier than the old rich. And perhaps get your thinking beyond that of a brat teenager needing a smacked ass and sent to her bedroom and consider the huge advancement in human development in all fields that my parents could only ever dream about. Even something simple like the huge development in health and life expectancy that we no longer have to accept a doctor telling us sorry there is nothing we can do.
