The EU caught £540 million of fish per year in UK waters.

The UK caught £110 million of fish per year in EU waters.

The EU don't actually want to lose £357 billion/year in exports. Germany in particular would lose a lot of money. Since Germany is the de facto leader of the EU, you can be sure that a deal will be made.

But the UK exports of 357 billion pounds to the EU comprise 45% of our total exports whilst the 357 billion pounds of the EU is only 8% of the EU's exports.

Germany would be hit, yes, but the UK would be hit much more by no deal.

The problem is we have to export our fish to the EU, there is not enough demand at home. And if we leave with no deal, those fish will become more expensive for the EU with tariffs.

Germany is teetering on recession and basically runs and funds the EU (along with the French).

 

If they will be hit hard (which they will) by no deal then they will make a deal. The fact that all the spongers (net beneficiaries) that they fund do not export to the UK is of no interest to them. 

 

He who pays, decides. Germany needs the UK, so the EU needs the UK.

Yes, it's a huge bargaining chip for the UK. If the EU price out UK fish with tariffs we can offer them tarriff free as a sweetener on a trade deal with other countries. Meanwhile we respond to their tariffs by taxing German cars and French wine.

 

Or we can allow the EU to continue to fish our waters in exchange for concessions on other issues.

 

Win win. The EU is bricking it since the election.

Fisheries "monitors" are not responsible for applying tariffs and do not collect them either. The EU needs the fish and it will buy them if it has to, even if they are more expensive. Wake up and smell the fish market.

Did you read what the Labour promises would have cost the UK, plus the extra cost of remaining in the EU?
