Yes, they abandoned me. I was a nurse for 26 years and during that time I learned a lot about human nature and psychology, so I don't ascribe such terms casually without knowing what they mean.

Interestingly, my first partner was also abandoned by her mother and step father as soon as she moved in with me and they didn't have to look after her any more- she was disabled. They too moved to the other side of the planet. Her father and step mother didn't abandon her physically, ie they were still in the same city, but they might as well have, for all they cared about her.

Actually I was abandoned years before the physical move when I was banished to boarding school.

 

Want something for themselves! Unless you are psychic, you don't know what they wanted, so I suggest you stick to what I say, and not invent back stories that you have no idea about

Most parents that love their children don't depart to the other side of the world soon as they don't have to support them anymore. They at least live in the same country, so families can get together at Christmas and such.

You are confusing now with then. Back then once children left school they got a job and their own place. They didn't live with mummy for years like they do now. No one went on the dole either. We grew up expecting to work for a living, not sponging off other people like kids do now.

One you leave the west, after a while you start to understand what had happened to you, but there are many guys that never manage to throw off the chains. I suspect quite a few of the 'worshipful posters' have never visited Asia ever.

This will not be popular, but I didn't like your post  much as, in my view,  it shows you in rather a poor light  If as you say, she knew it was a test, then what was the point in making your self out to be a cheap charlie, incapable of making at least an equal contribution to expenses?  She paid everything?
