Kid the Ripper: Let him out again and he would kill again

The case of Somkid Phumphuang continued to be the talk of Thailand.

The convicted serial killer served 14 years in jail only to be let out to kill again.

After killing his 6th victim he went on the run and was only captured when a couple on a train recognised his scar and turned him in.

Still smiling he is being kept under tight armed security in Kranuan district of Khon Kaen where he had killed a woman.

Sanook reported on a TV show called No Censor on Nation TV in which experts including a doctor of criminology and a lawyer were asked for their opinion about Somkid's upbringing, his time in jail and his offending.

Comparisons had been made with Jack the Ripper who murdered and disemboweled prostitutes in London 130 years ago. It was noted that "Jack" who was never caught mutilated the corpses but they both chose victims from the prostitute fraternity.

For Somkid prostitutes from karaoke lounges or massage shops gave him a chance to satisfy his lust for sex and murder - and gave him an easy opportunity to steal.

Somkid came from a broken home and was already a threat when he entered society and things just got worse and worse.

Questions about his release have been raised at the highest levels in Thailand including the prime minister.

The panel talked about Thailand's prison population that they said was 370,000 and rising.

They believed that Somkid had learned to play the system and was not insane at all. His calculation and methods revealed that. Even now he was probably thinking that by admitting to the latest crime he could get a reduction.

That should not happen and the psychopath should never be let out.

One thing the criminologist was sure about: if he was let out victim number 7 would follow.

Yep, give him a reduction, hang him and either sack or jail the ones that let him out, fat chance of either, but just hang him, now and let's see if he is still smiling !!!

This individual has clearly proven that he has NO place in society. He cannot be reformed, and he should (possibly) have to suffer for the suffering he has caused.

The man should definitely be executed, but if there's any chance that this person is functioning with awareness of what he does to people, he shouldn't be executed too quickly. I would recommend a LONG pre-death term of being given only the minimum required amount pf food and water for survival while living isolated in a small stark cell. Leave him alone with only his thoughts and memories. I suspect that he'd be begging for his death before too long.

On the other hand, if his mind is so far warped that he really doesn't grasp the gravity of his actions, treat him like a rabid dog that must be put down, but do it swiftly and compassionately.

He sits there grinning at the big boss. Take him outside, emasculate him and throw him inside for another 10 years. That should wipe the smile off his face.

Nope. Let the victims' families deal with him for only one hour. And his smuggy face will turn very sour.

Convicted and prooved serial killers, are a cost to society in detention. Why not just hang the culprit(s) and case closed ?

Perhaps because it's more suffering to spend your rest of your life at a <deleted>ty place. Even a bullet would be wasted on him.

I think that serial killers in any country should be put to death. The guillotine should

be brought back. Except for blood, I believe that most body organs could be harvested after the head is detached, so the killer benefits the world a bit after their departure.

This Thai killer should be included in being dispatched sooner than later.

No sympathy from me if he meets a quick end in prison, or on his way to prison.

Geezer

There are certain lines in life, that once crossed, essentially become a self revocation, of the right to consume oxygen. How one longs for a simple firing squad. Such a civil way to deal with monsters like this. Even lethal injection is too complex, and too civilized for this monkey clown. Another example of a judicial system that is weak and terribly broken. The judges here are anemic.

Enough is enough.  IF they have incontrovertible evidence, then this person should never be allowed to be in a position to harm anyone for the rest of his life.  Put him in solitary confinement or chain him up outside and charge people to see him.  Or mercifully snuff him as a rogue animal and go on with life.

To be fair to him, was he simply insane or was he driven to that point by the way he was treated when young?  Either way, we could quickly end the suffering all the way around.

Yes, just waffle.  Have committee meetings, discuss it to death, don't actually act on anything.  Do nothing that could possibly reflect upon or trouble one's self. Sad.

"Swift justice" is in order here, after how many years, how many victims?

------------------------

I remember some 40 years ago in downtown Loei hearing about a druggie/dealer who got shot down in broad daylight near a government building.  Seems that the cops got tired of his <deleted>.  Not quite right, but effective.
