Popular Post CNXexpat
Another kind of Thai racism - but here are not Thais the privileged ones. I don´t care about the 100 Baht voucher, but I would stop buying there if I wouldn´t be an Indian. 2

daveAustin
That wouldn't bother me as it's all about the baht... if they thought they could make more money by appealing to another group, say Chinese or Euros, the Indians would be dropped in a New York minute. Blatant opportunism at best.

Popular Post Gweiloman
I don’t consider that racism but targeted marketing instead. Racism would be to say that a certain race of people are not welcome, much like what a Western nation did in China a long time back (Dogs and Chinese not allowed into parks). Surely not allowing dogs cannot be racist . If they just disallowed certain kinds of dogs, then, that would be racist 1
Popular Post Why Me
Probably not racist. A simple explanation would be that the sponsors of the 100B voucher are tied with an Indian tour group or promoter. E.g., never used it but I believe my AIS Serenade card can get me discounts at some places. Obviously, AIS is paying for this for their customers. Same thing. Think of Indians not as a race but as a class (of clients). See no more racism.

Popular Post Happy Grumpy
Hardly offensive. If it said: "Special for Indian customers. champers
Can't say that I've seen many Indians in any of the malls. I think they prefer markets where they can haggle over prices. It will be interesting to see if there is any take up of this offer

Only Indians can take up the offer. Of course it's blatant racism. Can you imagine the same offer being promoted in the UK? Think about it. Firstly it woukd be illegal and secondly I guarantee that you would have a flash mob of protesters outside the store in minutes. It would also be on the front page of every newspaper in the land. wasabi
If I were Indian I would be offended that someone thinks I'm dumb enough to "simply" spend 1500 THB and be excited by a 100 THB food voucher (probably worth 20 THB) The part at the bottom Steps to enjoy your privilege would have the social justice warriors of Americans going apoplectic and that is worth a laugh. From Wikipedia: Studies published in 2014 and 2015 claim racism is on the rise in the UK, with more than one third of those polled admitting they are racially prejudiced.[4] Racism has been observed as having a correlation between negative factors, such as unemployment, and foreigners. Brexit has increased racist incidents where locals became hostile to foreigners or perceived foreigners.[5] Racism within the United Kingdom has resulted in cases of riots and racially motivated murders.
