The Scottish government was asking to be included in the Brexit negotiations and wanted a deal very similar to what Northern Ireland is being given now. This was refused with the usual Westminster arrogance and disdain. 

Westminsters actions is what drives independence forward. Not Scottish exceptionalism. 

The UK, to which the Scots were part of voted to leave the EU.

 

Just be carefull for what you wish for, Scotland could end up like Billy no mates.

Unlikely. An independent Scotland will join the EU and have lots of friends.

Whats left of the UK will be the one struggling to find a dance partner.

If Scotland doesn’t want the UK, does the EU want Scotland?

 

• The SNP must secure another independence referendum, to replace the “once in a lifetime vote” of 2014
• The referendum must be sanctioned by the UK government, and the SNP must win it
• Scotland must then begin the process of separating from the rest of the United Kingdom
• It must have separate borders and a separate economy with its own currency

How long will it take to fully leave the UK & then be accepted into the EU?

 

Not before 2050 would be a reasonable guess; Long after the EU in it's current format has ceased to exist.

They deficit has been debunked on here a dozen times and literally thousands of times in other threads and sites.

Scotland has no deficit. It gets a block grant from Westminster to pay for everything Scotland has to pay for (NHS, schools, police etc).

The deficit you speak of is run up by Westminster and apportioned to Scotland. We get no say in what Westminster wants to bill Scotland for.

The GERS figures are an absolute joke. Its just made up. Pure and simple. Its creative accounting at its very worst.

It bills us for London crossrail, Hinkly Point, HS2 and a third runway at Heathrow along with a huge raft of other stuff that comes nowhere near Scotland.

It fails to attribute goods which travel from Scotland to the rest of the world via English ports as being Scottish. It does not include oil and gas revenue from Scottish waters. It does not calculate VAT generated in Scotland. It includes pension payments made to Scottish pensioners that Westminster would still be liable for in the event of independence because thats the scheme the pensioners paid into.

In short Vogie the deficit is a total myth. 

 

But lets pretend for a second that the GERS figures are true. Do you think Scotland being a complete basket case is a good advertisement for continued governance from Westminster? Do you honestly think that a Conservative government with a huge majority would not be trying to offload such a massive strain on its finances given it has the power to do so? Especially at a time of economic uncertainty. They would be dropping us like a hot potato. Why does no political party (even UKIP and the Brexit company) not have a policy of getting rid of such a millstone around the neck of England especially when the population south of the border is continually bombarded with stories about Scotland being a hotbed of anti English sentiment? It would be a guaranteed vote winner.

I don't go looking for peoples imperfections, I like to take people as I find them. 

But having said that there is no doubt that John Bercow was an arrogant bully and it was beggars belief when Blackford decided to french kiss him on the prorogation of parliament, now that is arrogance.

Of course they do, virtually everyone in Scotland is a unionist, they want to belong to one union or another. The option to belong to both was taken away by the English nationalists.

You should really bear in mind it is the Scottish National Party and not the Scottish Nationalist Party, although it suits the purposes of some to say otherwise.

Only the naive would think that some of Labour voted conservative because they suddenly saw the light and conservative policy was the best thing since sliced bread.

Now that you mention it, I don't know, always assumed it was the Forres pipe band as he was in that for about 15 years after the war. He was in the Seaforths but seconded to the 9th Commandos and demobbed at the end of the war. I have a photo of the full band and my uncle who was born in 1927 is a side drummer so looks like after the war, possibly the TA.
