I carry one of those 3B bags in my Man Bag but I still look at my shopping then ' oops my bad ,my bag '.
Popular Post zydeco
14 hours ago, impulse said: My wallet stays in my pocket all day, every day. I never have to consider how many wallets I'm going to carry around. It's one. I never have to think about whether to put my wallet in my pocket in the morning. I do. I never have to wonder if the chicken I bought last week has leaked into my wallet and started stinking. It hasn't. If I'm on my way home from a day of fun and decide I need to stop at the store, I know my wallet is in my pocket. My stinking reusable bags? Probably not. If I lived a linear life and always go from home to the store and back, sure. Carrying stinky reusable bags around with me is fine. But most of us don't live like that, or want stinky bags in our pockets while we're on the MRT. That's just rude to the others around us. Especially since those stinky reusable bags have a greater effect on the environment than the disposables (look it up), and the real root of the problem is the lack of a solid waste disposal system, not the bags. Know how I know that? I'm currently living in Texas, the Land of Conspicuous Consumption. I get more plastic bags in a week here than I'd get in a month in BKK. Yet I rarely ever see a plastic bag on the beach or the side of the road here. So the number of bags isn't the issue. It's what happens to them after we bin them. Banning the bags is just a band-aid, and a short sighted one. Feels good, but that's not going to save Thailand from being buried under mountains of trash. Hell, I used half my BigC plastic bags just to bin the other plastic packaging material my stuff came in. So pass all the judgement you want on us disposable bag fans. I loved the fact that I never had to buy a plastic garbage bag in BKK. Or carry a stinky reusable bag. (Or, to head off the next guy who's going to bash me- laundering reusable bags) The hysteria against plastic bags is rooted in an almost religious emotionalism. It's been pointed out repeatedly that the reusables cause more overall environmental pollution than do the so-called single use plastic bags. No matter how many studies, links, and news articles you post, they simply ignore them. It has become a matter of faith, not logic or rationality. So, it's quite natural that many of the most ardent want to construct their lives entirely around the ritual of reusing bags for shopping. As you put it, they live a "linear life." It is simply impossible for them to imagine that most people in Thailand still do not own cars and cruise into big shopping malls. This anti-plastic bag orgy is the biggest case of Bwana-ism I've ever seen in Thailand. 2

Saint Nick
Some...most...almost all points, made by the "I cant life without my plastic bag"- fanboys and - girls are so ...ahm...intellectually challenged, that I really want to know, how you lot actually made it to an age, where you are actually able to use a computer! "The tourists don't bring their bags..."...seriously? How many tourists go to 7eleven and do their weekly shopping there? How many are not equipped with a small rucksack or the likes, to stow away a can of coke and a sandwich? You are aware, that most plastic bags, given out by 7eleven or family mart are small ones, that barely can hold said can of coke and a sandwich. So pray tell: for what amount of garbage do you actually re-use those? 1 banana peel and an egg-shell? Most Thais don't have a car, so they can not get their shopping home? What exactly is the advantage of carrying 5 plastic bags from the shop, compared to 5 cotton- bags! Oh, right! You don't have to use brain- resources to PLAN a minimal thing, before going to the shop, you just thoughtlessly wonder off, into the wild! That is not "convenience"...that is just "being lazy"! And if a "smelly bag" is the biggest problem you ever encountered on the BTS...may I suggest, you actually never really used the BTS! last, but not least: if you can't figure out, how to dispose of your trash, now that will not get handed a plastic - bag for every one item you buy...I guess, you will lose all your friends (...well...) because your house stinks and there will be garbage all over the place! Poor you! 1

Beggar
This plastic bag ban saved me a lot of money so far. For instance before my bill at Tops was mostly between 500 and 1000 Baht. Now I don't hesitate to go to the cashier with one bread for 40 Baht. But i still pay with 500 or 1000 Baht to have the old feeling again.

If you don't have a vehicle you can't transport them anymore. I am eating this toast bread now that you can get everywhere and I am getting used to it. However I did come prepared with my cloth bag as I have done for over a year. I got smiles and thumbs up from the staff for not "forgetting" my bag. Just can't be bothered carrying 5-6 shopping bags with me, so now my daily shopping volume is down by 80÷ compared to 2019. - Last year a "helpful" cashier wanted me to carry my 10kg Tops shopping in a thin carton. Yeah, right! Walking 15 minutes in the Bangkok heat with an open carton full of grocery shopping under the arm. Fortunately, I had some old plastic bags with me.
