Rather irrevelant to most of you, but I did my latest retirement extension the other day. In and out 15 minutes. One African in front of me was still there. Nothing was said about the rule changes (this was my first one under the new rules). I did a TM30 once about 7 years ago, it has never been mentioned since despite numerous international and within Thailand trips since. The 800k is annoying but I think I'll just leave it there this time, especially if the Aussie $ is even worse this year

Thank for your report. Do happen to know whether your retirement extension is based upon an original O-A visa or a basic non-O visa?

I didn't know, had to look at the old passport. It was a non-o visa I got in Brisbane in October 2010

I would imagine that your local Immigration office went by what they had stamped (in Thai) on the first page of your current passport as regards your original visa type when transferring stamps from the old passport containing the non-O visa, in determining that you were not subject to the health insurance requirement.
