Hi there.  I dont know if I am over reacting a bit here but I am getting a bit worried about a sharp pain in my head when I cough.  It lasts only as long as I cough, starts at the base of the skull and radiates to the top.  It feels kinda central, like it might be deep inside my brain but its hard to tell.  I have had it for a few days.  I just did the worse thing you could do - googled it - and the results are all a bit scary, going on about brain anurisim and tumours.

I could go to the hopspital to get it checked, but I know they are probably going to suggest a 20,000 baht MRI or something.  Should I wait a few days to see if it goes away or go get it checked out?  It hasnt really been bothering me too much for the last few days, just assumed it was a nerve issue or something but that google search has sent my head spinning and now I have all sorts of things running wild in my immagination ????

Anyone else ever have this?

When i get a migraine coughing certainly hurts for 1-2 days. Migraines can have minimal symptoms where you barely notice. Just a thought. After 3 days it shouldn't be migraine

You need to read the post properly, you've got it back to front

thats good... if it was serious it likely would only get worse... sounds more like a nerve. I am not a doctor but someone with nerve problems...

What price do you place on your peace of mind?  It may be nothing.  It may be the beginning of some serious health issue.

Get yourself to a hospital and get checked out by a qualified doctor...time may be of essence here.

If you rather die than spending 20K, the choice is easy. Otherwise, let a doctor do the talking. You could always get a second opinion before spending big.
That aside, it is not strange to have pain in the head while coughing and being sick. You know best if it is worse than that or not, if so, doctor.

Step 1: go to doctor

Step 2: get diagnosed with "I don't know, here, take these pills" (probably antibiotics)

Step 3: pay hospital bill

Step 4: refuse follow up appointment

Step 5: arrive home the same as when you left, just with a lighter wallet

Repeat as necessary

If the pain is only when you cough it is likely due to a muscle spasm. Or the transient spike in blood pressure which everyone has when they cough.

I personally would not worry about this as long as it is solely limited to when you cough and there are no neurological symptoms.

Might want to look into why the deep coughing though.
