Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has beseeched the Thai people not to waste water, saying that the volume of water in the country’s 15 major sources is at a critically low level and no significant rainfall is forecast until May.

He attributed the low levels to less than average rainfall during the last rainy season, an increasing population and the growing demand of water for agriculture and industries.

According to the Meteorological Department, the amount of rainfall in all regions for the first five months of this year is expected to be 3% to 5% lower than average, prompting the Government to adjust water management plans to deal the drought, said the prime minister.

Wondering how much water wastage went into growing that rather loud top thingy.

I'd guess all of it.

He's just doing what he's good at.

He attributed the low levels to less than average rain fall last year, WOW.

People should praise him for that comment, as everybody else was unaware of why there is a water shortage.

He is a prime candidate for master mind.:cheesy:

please keep washing your hands after bathroom visits,

Perhaps he could make some suggestions on how to save water?

I think in general, Thai people are not as 'educated' on saving resources, littering & etc, as falang.

And mostly us falang became 'educated' by Public services, informing us how to minimise wastage.

In short, Steven's mate :laugh:needs to 'show & tell' Thai people how to achieve this.

But I doubt he will.

Looks like a banana - maybe it would be better if he was.

Where I live, I can drive for miles & see rice fields flooded by pumping groundwater.  I'd better fix that dripping tap in the bathroom ????

Cloud-seeding time.

Another 'urge' from him. How about spending some money on implementing things to try and ease the annual drought and flood, rather than millions and millions on military gear for an army that has never fought in a real war.

The yellow peril

%E0%B8%99%E0%B8%B2%E0%B8%A2%E0%B8%81-090

Time to cancel my monthly shower then....

Great idea oh enlightened one. Save water now so we'll have more to splash (read "waste") in 2 months time. Now that's what I call planning.

How about golf courts?

For months this government knew that a water shortage would occur, but that has not stopped local governments from using water for public use to extinguish out of control fires set by farmers.

The picture is of a local bird sanctuary which normally has much water.

As long as you use water to fight PM 2.5 instead of increasing the fight against the sources of this evil, no one will be willing to follow your advice!

How about limiting Songkran to 2 days in Pattaya instead of 10 days this would be a tremendous saving on waste water, in addition why not prevent the use of fresh water for throwing about aimlessly by using filtered seawater especially in places adjacent to the sea and of course make the people that want to throw the stuff about pay for the pleasure of doing so which would cover the cost of filtering the seawater........LOL

Does this mean no more drones to effectively tackle the pollution problem....?????

Maybe someone should cut back on the hair dyeing? Surely that uses a lot of water?

Get the rain drums out now.

I also assume that all the golf courses will have a dry time to make sure, that the small farm of the small man will survive.

"He attributed the low levels to less than average rainfall during the last rainy season, an increasing population and the growing demand of water for agriculture and industries. complete Government mismanagement, lack of strategy, capitalizing on water management during rainy season, and we we really don't have a clue"

Fixed.

What's wrong with them clowns who are running the country , When it rains the place floods when the sun shines there's a drought. this has been going on for centuries, one would think that they can flood proof most of the country . that they can make huge dams than when it rains they can store the water . that's what other countries are doing .

I think you'll have a tough task finding somebody to argue about that.

How about just having people urinate in the sea, that would make about the same difference in the overall scheme of things!

You mean the ones that store water and use it during the dry season, or are there indeed others?
