Openly showing what this government thinks of us.

Can wearing a medical face mask protect you against the new coronavirus? If it's a regular surgical face mask, the answer is "No" A more specialized mask, known as an N95 respirator, can protect against the new coronavirus. Virologists say that surgical face masks cannot block airborne viruses from entering your body. Dr. Michael Hall, a CDC vaccine provider, tells CNET in an email that N95 respirators are the most protective, but that surgical masks can be worn when taking public transport or entering crowded areas to help protect you from other people's coughs and sneezes.

This virus is really easily spread. Masks are not going to do much. They found 40 new cases in a quarantined cruise ship today in Japan. Just because one infected Hong Kong passenger was in the ship LAST WEEK and had also already left.

Possibly exacerbated by the recycling of air from the air con system

Dude...the WHO (eg PROFESSIONAL DOCTORS) says, it is not necessary to wear these masks in everyday life!

Go figure!

Now you get a little golden star, for being a good little soldier, doing everything you are told!

Well..yes..quite a few on here could be described as good little soldiers.

They even elected one as poty...go figure.

And yes,Anutin just let it slip out.Is that really such a surprise?

according to Thailand’s health minister, Anutin Charnvirakul.

Speaking on Friday as he, along with other officials, handed out government issue face masks at BTS Siam, Mr Anutin said that those who refuse to wear masks “need to be kicked out of Thailand”.

He said that while not wearing his face mask, or is wearing a mask around one's neck ok, as shown in the photo?

He asked Thai people to help kick out foreigners who don't wear masks. Let that sink in.

"He asked Thai people to help kick out foreigners who don't wear masks."

He did not say that, at least that was not reported in the OP.  Let that sink in.

Those masks are not particulate masks and next to useless as they are saturated in minutes, they are not designed to filter particulates from the atmosphere, and are not form fitting. Distributing them is a waste of money.

It's the IMAGE, stupid. That's all that ever counts in Thailand. The charming Health Minister has said something without having to do anything at all, and that is what counts. That is the way it always works in Thailand. Image, not substance. We all know the masks are not fit for purpose (well, all but the Minister), but that is completely irrelevant.

You surely must be Thai because you find it impossible to think beyond step 1 - like the minister who has sent a message out around the world saying that foreigners - only foreigners - are not wanted if they don't wear a mask. What about the Thais who don't wear one? Perhaps lock them away in s military camp for 're-education?
The severe consequences for the government which you write of (by which you mean no money money money coming in) of banning flights is, according to you, too dreadful to be acceptable. But the severe consequences of letting possibly infected people in is okay - as long as they bring their wallet.

I know that you are right. But imagine that you are the governor of this country. You don't know how this virus crises will develop or end. But you know that many companies serving tourists will not survive this crisis very long. So you have 2 problems. What would you do?

This clown is only Grand standing. No more no less. And why do you continuously post supporting him and his idiocracy department and xenophobic attitude towards us?

I don't support him or anyone else. I just ask what could be done better. It is easy to criticize.
