Seven dead men found floating in a reservoir - it's believed they were involved in drug gunfight with army

Police in the Mae Sai area of Chiang Rai near the border with Myanmar were alerted after seven corpses were found floating in a reservoir.

The men had been dead for 2-3 days.

It is believed that they were all involved in a gunfight with army personnel on Monday night and were probably injured in the exchange.

The bodies were collected and sent for autopsies.

About 20 men were involved in the gunfight on the night of the 24th of February after they were intercepted while carrying 21 sacks through a jungle area.

The sacks were abandoned and found to contain 2,250,000 Ya Ba pills and 14 kilos of crystal meth.

All the men escaped.

One thing for sure with Thai army and police, no old or out of use by date ammunition laying about there, all are being uses quite gingerly and with enthusiasm in any given chance...

I dont believe it, if they where transporting that much gear and it seems they had intel, if there was that much why did they not just put them under surveillance and track where and who it was going to, I think too mut

Very suspicious case.

So, an army patrol intercepts a large band of about 20 drug smugglers.

They exchange fire.

All smugglers escape, but it is "believed" that 7 of them were injured in the gunfight.

The army apparently didn't pursue, not even the injured. Why not?

And 2 to 3 days later seven corpses are found floating in a reservoir.

How did they get there? Discarded by their fellow smugglers, or perhaps thrown in by army personnel in order to cover up extrajudicial killings?

And why were the deceased found by the police and not the army?

And with that huge amount of drugs recovered, why no vinyl boards? Why no huge press conference? Why no photo ops for a bunch of generals who never were at the scene in the first place but enjoy taking credit anyway whenever they have the opportunity?

You know, I perhaps wouldn't be so suspicious if the Thai army were known for always being transparent, honest, and never tried sweeping uncomfortable things under the table.

Knowing how they work here they would have had them 7 dead bodies lined up for the media show and Ive not seen it on the Thai TV news they would be all over this like rash

You think to much!   Look at the plus.  All those drugs will be off the street...for now.

A lot of holes in this story like one being why are they all in the water ????

Dead men can't dig their own graves.

The "authorities" here use water burials to hide the bodies under duress.

For one-offs they get a 55 gal drum. See also Porlajee "Billy" Rakchongcharoen
