Buying things from Indonesia (3d Printer)

Featured Replies

I want to buy a specific 3d printer that none of the suppliers in Thailand currently have and dont kow when they will get more as it is made in China, and they are not being shipped at the moment

I can buy one from Indonesia, the price is about 12,000 which is abut 5,000 baht less than I would be able to buy it from a Thai supplier, (if they had any to buy)

Anyone have any experience buying from Indonesia, am I likely to be stung for mazzive import taxes. Is it worth the risk, or just sit patiently and wait for thai stockists to get more stock?

If you are in no rush, wait. If you import it, check out the calculators pinned in the Customs info at the top of this forum. That said, as with many thing in Thailand, what the rules say and what happens on the day are not always the same. ????

If you do decide to go for it, just remember to ensure the correct amount is declared on this parcel being shipped, DONT use a courier, use standard Post Office service and if you dont like the import charge and it seems excessive its a simple process to dispute and ask for re-assessment based on whatever evidence you have. (receipts of purchase etc).

IIRC 3D printers need an import licence, do verify before committing to buy anything.

Dont think I will. Too dumb to find the above mentioned calculators, let alone use them. If maybe need import lience, then I am just gonna forget it

Domestic suppliers say they think they will get more about mid-march, but in reality who knows.

Spent ages deciding which one I wanted, only to find it is out of stock everywhere. Can get almost any other machine I may have wanted.  Patience isnt a virtue I possess a lot of.
