A police patrol responded in Loei in Thailand's north east after the 191 call center said they had received 50 calls from a woman all afternoon until evening.

Pol Capt Chollaphat Wongsa found Warunee, 51, still calling 191. She had enjoyed a beverage or two.

The officer discovered that Warunee was of no fixed abode and had no ID. He explained patiently that the 191 number was for emergencies and she really shouldn't be clogging up the lines.

This sent Warunee into a fair old tizzy and it took a while until she had calmed down sufficiently to explain herself.

When she had regained some composure she said that she lived alone in a shack in the center of the village.

Anyway, the problem was that she was dead.

She said that 15 years ago she discovered that she had been stabbed 11 times in Pattaya and was listed as having died. Her name had been scrubbed from all public records and this meant lots of problems.

Not least of all being unable to be registered as being alive and unable to get Thai ID or any benefits.

Relatives who arrived on the scene confirmed her story saying they had tried to get her to be declared alive again for years with no success. They said she liked to drink but had a good memory.

The local Phoo Yai Ban in Dan Sai promised to look into her problems.

Sanook published a picture of Warunee explaining her predicament to the police captain with the caption: "I'm dead, Khun Tamruat" (Mr Policeman).

Yes. Only in Thailand could this happen. There are a lot of people on the roads who seem brain dead, but this one wins the prize.

It tooks 50 calls for the police to decide to show up...

...they were probably bothered the game on their phone cuts at each call.

Hope the lady gets her life back and government is giving her what she has missed on benefits schemes.

Very drole: 'Hope the lady gets her life back'

50calls or money is about right...

Poo Yai Baan eh? Do they do anything but cut money from community projects and invest it in any small buisness and family yet always drive crappy cars? Its all ours does. So corrupt yet allowed to carry guns so i feel safe.

She had a good memory when she's still alive.

Lao Khao being the main one!

Our village held a funeral for a man who went into the forest and disappeared, three days off monks praying and locals drinking. His ex wife reported him dead and tried to cash a insurance policy, but then the man returned having fallen from a tree and knocking himself out. It took him a week to find his way home.

To this day some people think he is a ghost.

Oh boy this is a good story Pass me a drink love and tell me another. 50 calls to the cops wow She was lucky to get them in 50 calls Must of been a break in the card game they were having
