Popular Post webfact
Immigration smart cars! Now they come for the Thais! Thailand's infamous BMW smart cars - used repeatedly in busting foreigners - have now been turned on the Thais. Naew Na reported that the cars were used in the busts of several Thai men with illegal weapons and drugs. Three men were prosecuted in Pattaya, Sri Racha and Sattahip. In the first case in Pattaya on March 3rd Attakorn, 23, was nabbed outside an apartment with no name at the entrance to Ratanakorn Village. He had an unregistered gun and ammunition and a quantity of krathom leaves. This arrest was a collaboration of the Chonburi immigration and the Pattaya police. Two days later the smart car was again utilized in the arrest of Somjit, 39, found with an illegal gun in a joint operation of immigration and the Phlu Taluang police in Soi Kongkawian, Sattahip. Finally on the same day Pongsakorn, 33, was arrested in Surasak sub-district with an illegal weapon. This was Chonburi immigration working with the Sri Racha police. Hitherto the much vaunted BMW smart cars have been utilized nationwide in busts of foreigners usually on overstay. Each car is fitted with onboard diagnostics and connections meaning that on the spot analysis of miscreants can be accomplished. Now it appears they are being turned against the Thai population. In this report Naew Na did not report a number to call. Popular Post Psimbo
Oh Jeez- here we go again. Can people not get over the use of Beemers- it's insignificant in the big scheme of things ('infamous' AND 'vaunted' in the same story- make yer mind up!). They are only 'infamous' in the eyes of Thaigezzers who find plenty of other things to moan about. Just be grateful they are taking Crims off the street (and yes if you overstay you ARE a criminal despite what some may think) whatever their background. I'm surprised no one has suggested exporting one to London yet to sit outside 'Boy's door. Edited March 9, 2020 by Psimbo 4 2

Stupid discussion, Thailand has bigger issues besides BMW or Lexus. Edited March 9, 2020 by ThomasThBKK

Popular Post KhunKenAP
They had better send them after the 80 Thai's returning from S. Korea who escape from Swampy, before being sent into quarantine. How in the H.E.L.L could that even happen. Wife says bribes. 3

Greenhill
Is it a sign that Immigration don't have enough to do, worrying about foreigners, that they can divert their attention to the far more dangerous Thai criminals?!!

Perhaps they're giving the foreigners a wide berth in case they catch something from them.

mikebell
How did these smart cars know he had guns etc? Maybe someone called a hotline, in which case a motor bike taxi would have sufficed.

You are kidding right... the police here have been known to lose prisoners between the charge desk and the cells, sometimes allowing them to use a bathroom and climb out of the window. They couldn't hold a sloth!
