I have 2 weeks left on my 30 day visa. I have signed a work contract and was supposed to go to pakse for a non B. That is also not going to happen now !!

In all fairness, where do I go? Everywhere is in lockdown.

Therefore, I would be happy to stay here. But financially, I have about 2 months of money remaining.

Can I apply for another 30 day extension, especially with the current situation. I hope the Thai government has some procedure in place for people wanting to stay, or are stranded.

Have you been left stranded in Thailand, unable to fly back to Europe or elsewhere due to travel disruption from coronavirus?

Have you seen your flight cancelled and are unable to book an alternative flight?

Have you recently returned home from Thailand and experienced disruption on your return flight?

Let us know in the comments below.

Please only post if you have been affected as per the above.

So the answer to the questions can only be yes?

That's a bit silly.

No.

No.

and no.

I phoned the CBSA (Canada) after getting triggered by JT's cool closure announcement telling citizens to return immediately, (or else). What else?

A surprisingly patient and helpful agent (15 years prior 911 dispatch) spoke to me for about a half hour that by the end, considering all the hassle and potential hot spots subjected to, we figured it was smarter to stay put. That might change in an hour

On KLM site they were easy to change flight and i considered it, with the way they have more problems here in Europe then in Thailand. However im back and have to face the consequences here, as in also total lockdown and so on.

It;s a mess.

Not many options for you, methinks.

Now have flight back to USA April 17 on Cathay via Hong Kong. Cathay reduced flights from about 8 per day BKK to HKG and recently just about 4 per week. As of today they show one flight everyday starting 3/29 through April it happens to be my flight. And there are still a couple non stop flights HKG to Boston each week. I’m just not sure if Thailand closes border will Cathay still fly here?  Also if States close border with Hong Kong or vise versa what happens. I know a lot of Hong Kong students got kicked out of dorms this week and are returning now. I might just try to come back earlier a week or so and just waiting in Phuket at the beach to see what happens. I’m not going back in the next 7 days for sure. Who knows!

Hi.

British guy, working in Oman, on 2 weeks holiday in Pattaya since 07 March.

Was due to fly back to Oman on Saturday 21st March.

Oman went into total lockdown on Wednesday 18th, with only Omani nationals allowed to enter.

Had to change my return ticket with Oman Air to an open ticket, which will cost me!

The predicted total travel ban to Oman is expected to be 2 - 3 months, but may go on for 6 months!

So my answer to the poll is yes, this is going to effect me badly financially, with "unexpected" hotel costs, and emotionally, due to the stress!

Waiting with baited breath also on a possible waiver of tourist visa overstay charges?

Oh! And my travel insurance got cancelled for any costs involved in delays/cancellations, accommodation, due to Covid-19!

Stranded in Thailand, with no help from anyone!

Can you name the country you cannot fly to from Bangkok please?

Yes, you may have to self-isolate for 2 weeks, but have not heard of countries refusing entry to their natural born citizens.

Peace

You cannot fly to any of them if there are no flights!

If you are American, you should be aware of the travel warning just issued by the U.S. State Department:

The State Department warned Americans not to travel internationally on Thursday and advised all Americans who are abroad to return to the United States or make preparations to shelter in place to reduce the chance of contracting the novel coronavirus.

The agency raised its travel advisory for all international travel from 3 to 4, the most serious category, reflecting the difficulty thousands of Americans are having returning to the United States as borders close and airlines cancel flights.

“U.S. citizens who live in the United States should arrange for immediate return to the United States, unless they are prepared to remain abroad for an indefinite period,” said the State Department advisory. “Many countries are experiencing COVID-19 outbreaks and implementing travel restrictions and mandatory quarantines, closing borders, and prohibiting non-citizens from entry with little advance notice,” the statement added.

As they are advising American citizens to arrange for immediate return, might this mean that they are considering sealing the border?

Why should it cost you? I have already changed the dates of my Oman Air flight, twice. They have waived change fees.

You might pay only if your booking class is no longer available. Then you will only pay the different for the different ticket classification.

I did not change my flight. I was advised by Oman Air to change my return ticket to an open ticket, because they do not know when the entry ban into Oman will be lifted, and there is no point in booking me on another flight that I will not be allowed to board!

Have you seen the draconian measures now in place in Oman? All shops shut (apart from supermarkets and pharmacies), all restaurants shut (including those inside hotels), all public transport stopped, all mosques shut!

Surely everybody can get back to their home country?

I know most don't want to do it but it still must be a valid option.

I can still get flights back to the UK at anytime in the foreseeable future and will do so in the next week or so
