Lately I have been looking around for health insurance (not because of visa requirements or coronavirus) for my own personal reasons. I am 53 years old. I have been looking at a Worldwide (except USA) plan to cover me when travelling and also in Thailand.

However I am unsure on the what annual coverage amount I need for this. I have been quoted one for 3.25M THB (about 100K USD) and another for 16M THB (about 500k USD) coverage. My tendency is to go for the 3.25M THB coverage but I have no idea if this would be enough to cover the typical costs of hospital/medical expenses. I don't really know what the typical costs are in Thailand or even for that matter in other countries. Costs for surgeries, room costs etc or even say longer term cancer treatment.

I am not asking for a concrete recommendation but just trying to get a feel for what realistic and practical amount of coverage I need. Any comments are appreciated.

Cheers
