The Interior Ministry is encouraging people to use fabric face masks to lower waste as the amount of discarded masks is constantly increasing, Local Administration Department director-general Prayoon Rattanasenee said today (March 24).

Prayoon said waste management had to be taken care of seriously in this Covid-19 crisis.

He said fabric face masks were a better alternative to lower mask litter since they can be cleaned and reused.

Meanwhile, used masks should be wrapped tightly, separated from other garbage and dumped into red bins, which are for infected waste.

The department has ordered 26,143 refuse collectors to be cautious when handling such waste by wearing face masks and gloves and cleaning their hands after finishing their tasks.

Unfortunately there are still people who do not understand the purpose of wearing a mask with this virus around. So let me explain in layman terms;

About COVID19:

- Incubation period is 1-14 days while people feel totally fine but are contagious already.

- Approx. 18% won't have any symptoms throughout the whole time they are infected but are contagious for up to 3 weeks.

About social distancing:

- 1.5-2 meters is advised so droplets are less likely to spread from one person to another

About masks:

- Masks reduce the distance that droplets can travel should one cough, talk loudish or sneeze in public.

Wearing a mask is not so much about protecting yourself from droplets but protecting others from your droplets. Exactly like social distancing.

Before you say I rather listen to medical experts (of which people mean the corrupt WHO, who is spreading lies since the outbreak) than someone online, feel free to Google all the facts first.

What Red bin? haven't even got a Rubbish that is Dog proof. Soi dogs empty the bins All over the street. That should be enough evidence to get the Council to Cull all the poison/disease spreading mongrel mutts.   ????

Thankyou for telling it as it is.

Wear a mask when out. You do not know if you are infected & may just help someone else
