TT&T is preparing to trial its IPTV service in just a few months

BANGKOK: -- Supot Tiarawut, managing director of TT&T Subscriber and Services, said Tuesday that 1,000 customers of its parent TT&T Plc would be randomly offered settop boxes free of charge to access the new service on its Maxnettv.tv multimedia content homepage.

The Internet Protocol television technology (IPTV) transmits TV programmes to PC users via a broadband connection. Typically, IPTV offers TV programmes, video on demand and Internet calling. TT&T operates a telephone service in the provinces, while TT&T Subscriber and Services has won a licence from the National Telecommunications Commission to offer an Internet access service.

As far as I know TT&T uses the TOT lines for ADSL , if this IPTV system also uses ADSL how is that going to effect the all ready bad bandwith problems we are seeing here in Thailand.

I am getting 300k instead of the 1M I paid for on the local Thai speed check websites !

Does this mean things are about to get even worse ?

:o

as long as it's national bandwith i don't think it's going to put us down. Funny enough it looks like ToT is back on track maybe some smart engineer found out what was going on ! (Damnit who forgot to plug our main backbone !!! we were on backup all the time :o)

IPTV needs far more reliablity and throughput than I get with TOT ADSL..

Haven't Noticed any improvement in my speed :o and I am also on TOT ADSL....

Speed test here on TV does not even start the tests , just times out :D

Besides smart engineer at TOT ? :D

There is an IP-TV company in Thailand that has an exclusive FCC broadcast license.

They will put a box in your home with VERY high speed IP network connection to wireless broadcast tower.

You can watch High Definition IP-TV, do Video Conf, and as a future service use the box for High speed Internet access of speeds greater than 2MB.

The company is MPI and website is www.mpitv.com (Note: Website still under development for the English language version).
