The wise man, the young man, and the virus...a fable...

Tell me, wise man,
Why didn't we stop producing cars
And save over a million
Of mostly young lives
Every year, year after year?

Because, young man,
These unfortunate deaths
Were a necessary sacrifice
For the greater good of our economy

Very well, wise man,
But tell me now
Why do we sacrifice our economy
To try and save
An unknown number of mostly old lives?

Because, young man,
Our high priests believe this sacrifice
Will appease the virus
Threatening our quest for immortality

Very well, wise man,
But what will be left
Once the virus appeased?

Chaos
