How does your country handle repatriation during lockdown?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am wondering how different countries handle repatriation of tourists/expats during corona crisis.

My country did the weirdest thing, which is complete shutdown of any air traffic which rendered all the existing tickets useless and now they send our national carrier to do repatriation flights which is subsided by the government (you still have to pay more than regular flights).

I think this is a measure to legally pump money into the Polish airlines.

Oh and they left land border with germany open, so you can fly Qatar to Berlin and then take a bus or a car to Poland anyways.

The only recent Australian repatriation flight I'm aware of was from South America a day or two ago and the passengers had to pay cool $5100 AUD for one way ticket.
