Govt will impose 24-hour curfew if Covid-19 situation does not improve

Narumon Pinyosinwat

The government might take recourse to a 24-hour curfew within a week if the number of Covid-19 patients kept rising.

Government Spokesperson Narumon Pinyosinwat said that a curfew from 10pm to 4am was imposed after it was found people were still leaving their houses, leading to a rising trend in Covid-19 cases.

The number of cases has been rising by an average of over 100 a day, and even though the government does not want to impose more stringent measures, a 24-hour curfew was still an option if the situation got worse, she said.

“The prime minister does not want to be tough on this matter. So, he has asked for more cooperation from the public to reduce their outdoor movement.

"Don’t leave the house if not necessary. Follow the social distancing measure, which people have not completely complied with,” Narumon said.

She said the premier understood that there were situations that required people to leave the house during a curfew, especially for medical personnel, bankers, delivery service and people who worked on shifts.

He wanted those people to prepare documents to show to the officials. Those who leave their residences without permission will face a legal penalty, she warned.

It has zero chance of improving within one week , they should take a close look at how other countries are doing and act accordingly but a 24 hr lock-down is just ridiculous . The numbers will keep rising because people just kept ignoring social distancing as well as Thai returning from infected countries and spreading the virus .

Impossible to enforce, at least they should stick to the possible. instead of making this kind of idiotic pronouncement.

Stock up now, a human can live on 1200 calories a day.  canned meat (mackerel is mt fav) plus a cup of rice or noddles.  Water of course.  at least 1 liter per day.

Veggies or fruits only last 3-4 days, so you may not be getting many vitamins and roughage.  Oatmeal, Muesli can help

Seriously - this will be almost impossible to carry out and enforce IMO

Fear tactics from those who are in charge is nothing new.

Hang in there, Thailand doing better than many other countries

Obviously another well thought out idea from the powers that be. You can't fix stupid. It would not surprise me if we end up with soldiers on the street with road blocks.

As always if they wanna do something they will do it,we have learned that from all the other decisions made without thinking first.

I would hazard a guess and say it will continue to rise let’s say maybe between 100-120/day for the foreseeable future so prepare yourself folks.

because you just sound crazy right now.

As crazy as:- You decide?

What happens when 90% of the media is controlled/owned by (6) corporations?

What happens when those same corporations are operated and controlled by a political ideology?

What happens when the news is no longer free from bias?

What happens when the news is no longer reliable and independent?

What happens when the news is no longer trustworthy?

What happens when the news simply becomes an extension/arm of a political party?
Fact becomes fiction?
Fiction becomes fact?

When does news become propaganda?

If you want to induce panic buying and hoarding, how would you go about it?

hmmm, announcing the possibility of a 24 hour curfew might do it.

Does that mean farangs don't have to go to immigration?

Or, more likely, we will have to go out to get the special documents to say we need to take other documents to immigration.  Might have to go to immigration first to get fill in forms to get permission to go to the place to get the documents that will be needed so we can take our visa documents back to immigration lol.

Oh, forgot to add, as farangs we may have to pay a charge for the forms too.

Thousands now out of work. Most will have little money.

The government thinks that they will be able to enforce a 24 hour curfew. It does seem like the perfect storm is gathering.

Here in Laos, we are under a 24 hour lock-down until April 19th.  One can only go out to the bank, hospital or supermarket (only 1 supermarket open in my town...).

Was china only lettinv people go do shopping once a week?

And only letting 1 person from a household out at a time?

Something along them lines is probably what the 24 hour lockdown means.

It will be only to the store and pharmacy and hospital. Any other 24hr crack-pot idea will have a revolt. And they best not stop selling alcohol. Another case for a revolt.
