By accident I punched a hole in a 2000  lkter blje plastic water tank.

How do I fix it .

Can not find fibreglass repair kids .

Toolpro sold mr a stick of blue plastic, same like a three foot long welding rod and told me to jse a hot iron .

My old time welder has never done anything like this .

Does anybody have any firsthand experience?

If you can get inside the tank ...just glue a rubber patch ...if the hole is large then you will need stiffer material ...car inner tube etc. If it is at the bottom of the tank you will have to decide if the repair material is thick enough. You could cover the area with thin metal and then seal the area with a rubber patch.  Sx-100MS by Sealex will 'glue' just about anything to anything...

If you can't get inside then put a patch on the outside ..use Sx 100MS as the glue and use some self tappers to help ...

You may be able to order "flex-seal" family of sealing products.  They have a tape that can stop a leak while water is pouring out of the breach... Google it!

Good Luck!

Can you tip the water tank so that the hole is horizontal? You can use a cigar lighter/blowtorch to melt the blue rod and drip it into the hole.

Here in Thailand you can find  2 part epoxy at most hardware stores

2 names I've used are "Draga"  and "Bosny"   Bosny is slightly more runny

but both are not what I would call "putty" until they are very nearly set..I've found using some cling film and masking tape helps keep it in place on vertical surfaces ..the cling film/wrap being see through allows adjustment and keeps your hands clean otherwise it gets everywhere really gooey and sticky stuff  clean up with plenty of washing up liquid  before the resin sets solid !

P.S  I would clean the area to be patched and lightly sand/roughen the plastic  to ensure a good bond.

Thick polyethylene sheet for the patch, cyanoacrylate glue to stick it on. Won't matter if the patch is inside or outside.
