Two residents in the capital on Friday tested positive for the coronavirus, bringing the total infected patients in the Kingdom to 122, Phnom Penh Municipal Health Department said. The patients, identified as a 24-year-old Vietnamese national and her 50-year-old Canadian husband, are receiving treatment at the capital’s Chak Angkre Krom health centre.

Municipal health department director Ngy Meanheng said yesterday officials are working on tracing people who came in contact with the patients. “We sprayed disinfectants and sanitised the apartment unit they live in,” he said, adding the unit has already been sealed off to contain any virus transmission.

The apartment building is located along Street 302 in Boeng Keng Kang I commune, said commune chief Prak Maly who assured the virus will not spread to the neighbouring units. Health Ministry spokeswoman Or Vandine said yesterday: “An investigation as to where they may have contracted the coronavirus is underway.”
