Now WHO are going out and recommending the same. Let´s just scream again that they are lunatics and wrong too. pj123
I thought all provinces had banned alcohol for about two weeks. Is this an extension to an existing ban or is alcohol still on sale in NP up to 19 April?

Today they extended the ban until the 30th. The head honchos are all playing "keep up with the Joneses!' It will be interesting to see if the big brewers/distributors, who are very wealthy and therefore wield much influence, will support/allow a longer term ban. I suspect that they will swallow 3 weeks or so, to be seen to be "taking one for the team", but may have some representations to make were it to be further extended.

Alcohol is a prime trigger for domestic violence and now that people are having to spend much time with family violence already increases. Alcohol only adds to that. So many examples of alcohol turning people violent. 2 2 6 1

Throughout history, in most societies, people have looked for something. Toadstools, chemicals, licking the backs of toads, lao kao......beer is easily measured, safely made and people who drink it are not the same thing as violent alcoholics.

Im sure its not what the crowd on Thaivisa likes to read because they really love their alcohol but facts are facts. Alcohol is estimated to be involved in up to half of partner violence in Australia and 73% of partner physical assaults. It features prominently in police data, although not all jurisdictions keep consistent records. In 2010, alcohol was recorded as “present” in 41% of domestic assaults in New South Wales. This figure increased to over 60% in the remote far west of the state. https://theconversation.com/alcohols-link-to-domestic-violence-is-in-focus-now-what-37696 1

No matter what the thread topic you always default against what you perceive will be the popular view. You probably don't believe half of what you write, just enjoy the wind up. This kind of ban is nonsense, how would it be enforced? and as far as any WHO recommendations do you really take any of their advice seriously. Banning alcohol sales to try and stop large gatherings during Songkran is understandable to a certain degree but extending it to the end of the month and then trying to stop the consumption really proves the lunatics have finally taken over the asylum. 4 1
