PM apologizes for miscommunication about 5,000 baht subsidies

Prayuth-Blur.jpg

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has offered a public apology for his miscommunication, which has caused widespread public confusion, over the 5,000 baht monthly cash subsidy for people affected by business closures.

He assured that the Government will try to help all affected groups by providing them with the cash over the next three months. He added, however, that, if the pandemic situation eases within that period, allowing people to return to work, the handouts might not be necessary.

“Please feel relieved,” said the Prime Minister today, as he maintained that he had no intention whatsoever to cause misunderstanding, adding that he merely wanted to explain to the people about how the Government secures funding.

i believe his behavior is a hangover from being an arrogant  military general, where no one questions anything no matter how foolish from the boss's mouth

When I heard about the original statement, I thought he was implying they were going to let the economy reopen - so the 5K baht payment would no longer be necessary.

The govt can't force people to "not work" - then deny them survival-funds at the same time.  Well, I guess they "can" - but not w/o repurcussions.

An honest mistake ......he must have sent someone to the coffers,

and on their return, there's nowt there, except a few Millions for

the Army and Police, must keep them on side, incase there's trouble.

The Prime Minister asked all members of the public to help reduce the number of new coronavirus infections to the extent that the situation improves enough that some of the restrictions can be eased.

Then what?

Thailand - where you can expect your government to back peddle once their backs are to the wall!

Thailand. TIT is in the past, now it's -LOBP - Land Of Back Peddlers. ????

  • Popular Post

So at a guess we can expect zero new infections within a fortnight.

Indeed.

You can reopen, but if there are no customers to pay to keep the lights on, the malls, hotels, restaurants, bars etc., will not be staying open for long.

To be fair, every government in the world is facing the same dilemma; when can we safely open, and what are we going to do with the huge numbers of unemployed.

( Let's not even talk about debt, both public and private)

PM, even if the lockdown ends 1st May what jobs does he think the so called freelancers, self-employed workers and small traders are going back to ?

They ordered them out of business and shut without any support, even if some manage to open where exactly are the customers going to come from - tourism is dead for at least 12 months if not longer

All his problems are just starting 1st May - what are all these people going to live on for the next 12+ months, if he thinks cancellation of lockdowns is going to make it all go away he really is deluded

These tiny 5k payments per month will need to continue well beyond 3 months

Oopsies! The peasants are revolting!

  • Popular Post

I do not see a rebellion in my village community as yet, but my wife who has 100's of friends on Facebook and in Line groups comes out with dismal stories of people without electricity and the unfair distribution of the 5000 baht support.

People are beginning to get angry.

Thinking before talking is unfortunately not an option for Thai politicians. Sometimes they publish laws and then they find out that it´s not practical.

He would not be making mutable apologizes if it was not starting to get hot in the kitchen......

The state aid to the people has been almost non existent.....Only about 5-7% got the 5,000 and now the 3 months has been reduced to one month......So just to make this simple......It can be said basically no one has got any help worth mentioning....

he said that the Government could only afford the April payment of the 5,000 baht subsidy for about nine million people not covered by the social security scheme,

Must have been another miscommunication in encouraging 24 million to apply for it, each expecting help for three months then I guess?

Cancel orders for submarines, given we have a real emergency here right now, and you don't need them for anything other than to show off with, given the average depth of the Gulf of Thailand.

That should free up enough to help you cover the shortfall, with some bonus months on top, you cheap son of a you know what.

''It's all a terrible misunderstanding''.  Now where have i heard that before ?

  • Popular Post

Sorry it's all a misunderstanding I know we said we were going to help everybody and only nobodies will be left behind but we've decided to just help ourselves.Sorry!Sorry I'm not sorry!

  • Popular Post

It will be interesting to see what happens when this is all over. The people want this bloke out but as he has shown he's going nowhere and he will hang on to power by whatever means necessary.

With the THAI losses of 12bn baht per year you could have helped 800.000 people in need for 3 months.
Junta clowns, there you could have saved big money.

In other words "oh <deleted> the peasants are firing their kubotas up and driving south, get some cash from the secret pile, leuleu!"

And the SS fund will now go belly up from being raided. That is a bad idea using that .
