Applying for a retirement visa
Just got from MANEERAT now. Was quite surprised. They told me that if I get a 1 year extension of my passport for one year (which is manually added to the existing passport) - this passport may be not eligible for the Retirement visa prolongation (extension, renewal - call it whatever you want). She told me that the extended passport is actually not a normal passport (even if it looks exactly like one). Any thoughts? -

Huge crowd piles pressure on Dutch government to seek an end to Israel's campaign in Gaza
Imagine your kids / family kids / neighbors kids starving and becoming just skin and bones when there's hundreds of aid giant trucks of food, medicines etc., parked a few km away. -

Report Thailand Sees a Surge in COVID-19 Cases: Concerns for Public Health
Exactly. The common cold is not the same as influenza, but covid is similar to influenza. I've had covid twice that I know of (tested) and once where I think it was covid but not sure at age 68. Not sure because I wasn't planning on going out and mixing with others so didn't bother to test and it's just annoying, no more. Been vaxxed / boosted 5 times now - age 70. What must be said is my experiences hold true for the majority of people who get covid - for a minority it's more serious as we know. But we should never have shut the world down for a minority. Those who have pre-existing issues or who are very old should have been offered the opportunity (and supported) to isolate. Furthermore, Charles Darwin had something to say about survival, as we all know. As for the morons who deny science and won't be vaxxed - you're free to go your own way, but just shut up about it! -

Starmer’s Brexit Reset: A Strategic Shift or a Sacrifice?
See my post above, copied here The UK and the EU have agreed to co-operate further on a "youth experience scheme" - but this will be subject to further negotiations British holidaymakers will be able to use e-gates at more European airports - although it is not yet clear when this will come into force Meanwhile, National Farmers’ Union president Tom Bradshaw says it was not yet clear what UK rules and regulations would have to be aligned with the EU’s.' The UK, at this stage, has not got anything in return. -

Thai tax tangle: Expats warned of new rules on overseas income
Yes ... but as likely you note Royal Decree No. 18 B.E. 2505 (1962) which notes per specifics in some Double Tax Agreements (DTA), some types of foreign income for some countries can be tax exempt in Thailand. The view of many is that means exempt from the Thailand tax calculation, and hence is not to be considered assessable income. Obviously this depends on the wording of he DTA.
