webfact
Bangkok: "Shell shocked" US marine sparks bomb alert in front of US Embassy Picture: The Tempo News Bomb disposal personnel were called after a foreigner was reported acting suspiciously outside the US Embassy in Withayu or Wireless Road, Bangkok this morning. The man had a cardboard box and a torch battery. It was soon discovered that the man was Lucas Mc., who the Tempo News said was a 35 year old American. He had served with the Marines in Iraq and had been blown up suffering mental trauma. Now he had come to Thailand to teach English. Picture: The Tempo News He needed lots of meds for his condition. His box was found not to contain anything explosive. Inside was paper, a cloth and a figurine of a Thai boxer showing respect to his teacher. Lucas was taken away for a full mental evaluation but was not charged. Of course, all of the TVF Special Forces members will tell you they also survived an IED and had no mental issues whatsoever. My bet is that the Thai police dealt with him a little nicer than he would have been dealt with back home. 27

Or... a mentally compromised individual is treated humanely and given the help he needs during extremely trying times. Popular Post kingstonkid
Why didn't one of the marines or members of the embassy not come out and deal with him. Also why are we saying a Marine was arrested. He is not a marine but a veteran. The Thai authorities should not be the only person assisting this guy. The Military staff at the embassy should also be doing something for him. 16

Popular Post nodomino
I’m surprised there is as little harm done as there is by former US soldiers. There are a lot of them . The US has been involved in some kind of military trouble making non stop for about 80 years. The most obvious danger for them is to themselves. Self harm and suicide are epidemic among US veterans. 5 1

Ventenio
feel bad for the guy, he's really crying out for help. I do hope he FAILS a teaching background check via fingerprints. Well, I guess he could still "teach" on a tourist visa for a few months. anyhow, he shouldn't be around kids. bomb alert seems a little harsh, I would need to know more information. box in front of embassy, yea, it's gotta be something. hold on, the cleaning lady just left a box outside!!!!! OMG!!!! he's not that dumb. he knows he needs help from his country and he went to his embassy. so i'm thinking he's relatively harmless....well, i wouldn't hang out with him. Are you wearing a tinfoil hat or something. PTSD sufferers, such as myself, and many others never asked for what we have, nor did we expect to be in some places we were sent. I will never understand that by giving our all, our mental suffering would not be treated when the time came, as the military fails to treat us for PTSD and to do so you have to meet certain standards and have been in certain places. There are also many homeless Veterans, and many of them have mental illness, and are where they are because they can not function in a normal society. Can you say that you have seen blown up bodies, have you ever been shot, and how many people have you had to render inoperable status too. Until you can put yourself in the shoes of someone that has been there and done that, you are the last person who needs to judge someone. If you have been a part to all of what I have described, then god forbid whatever mental disorder you have that would make you speak ill of someone else who has been through the same thing. However, there is no way you could have, because whether or not we have been in the same places we all have respect for our brothers and sisters who served.....Have a good day 7

Popular Post fvw53
I am a Dutch speaking person ...in my home country this does not automatically qualify me as a "teacher Dutch language", I need a degree to do this. I wonder how many teachers "English" in Thailand are simply English speaking persons without any qualification to be a teacher.
