Looks like more trouble on the ferries to/from Samui.

Most suspended?

My wife was due to come back tomorrow, but Seatran have told her sailings tomorrow will probably be cancelled as well

Any update on the night ferry, are they still sailing?

I understand that the Suratthani governor has cancelled all ferries.

I would guess that that means Songserm as well. I have just tried to book a ticket for tomorrow 'Oh No! Sorry. There are currently no trips.......'

The Meteorological Department at 5 AM warned of high waves in the Gulf of Thailand starting on Sunday, December 18th. This led the governor to prohibit all boats from leaving shore from 8 AM on Sunday until a yet-to-be-determined time on Monday. The governor also cited strong winds and widespread rain throughout the South.

Ferry services on the following routes are suspended:

Surat Thani-Ko Samui-Ko Phangan-Ko Tao
Don Sak-Ko Samui-Ko Phangan-Ko Tao
Ko Samui-Ko Phangan-Ko Tao-Chumphon
Ratchaprapa Dam in Ban Takhun district

Boats are also canceled for December 19th, 2022.

Tomorrow should be OK.

My partner has just told me that they are cancelled again tomorrow. Not sure where that news is from.

We have some guests desperate to get to their holiday villa and others that are having to book flights as they need to get home.

Other guests stuck in Bangkok - all flights to Samui full.

I wonder if the Thai Navy will have to do a supply run to Koh Tao? One less ship available.????

Richard Barrow says at 6:15 pm:

???? All boats, including ferries between the islands of Koh Samui, Koh Phangan and Koh Tao, have been told to stay ashore until at least 20th December due to rough seas. Four ships have sunk and one container ship has run aground so far. HTMS Sukhothai also sank last night. Stay safe if you’re down south.

If you need to travel with Lomprayah catamarans, it is advised to book two days in advance due to high demand for tickets up to Songkran.

There are at the moment three daily trips to Koh Tao from Koh Samui, and seven daily trips to Koh Phangan.

Tourism Association of Koh Samui is also negotiating with Bangkok Airways for extra flights up to Songkran. Read more HERE in Khaosod English.
