Coronavirus: Trump suggests injecting disinfectant as treatment

Featured Replies

US President Donald Trump has been lambasted by the medical community after suggesting research into whether coronavirus might be treated by injecting disinfectant into the body.

He also appeared to propose irradiating patients' bodies with UV light, an idea dismissed by a doctor at the briefing.

Another of his officials had moments earlier said sunlight and disinfectant were known to kill the infection.

Mr Trump's own public health agencies warn against bleach as a medicine.

What did President Trump say?

Listening to the video, yes I gathered that too. An unfortunate use of words, by no other than BBC ????

Why did no one else think if this first?

Just poison everyone with CV19 symptoms by injecting disinfectant directly into their bloodstream and nobody dies of Coronavirus.

The 'death by disinfectant' figures for 2020 will go up by a few million this year but who will be checking that?

Pure genius!!

You  live in Thailand?

No need to inject it, just drink it, anything with a lot of alcohol, the more the better ????

includes a bigly painful video.

Anyone who would even think or suggest that would normally be considered a "sandwich short of a picnic" and more the fact that this idiot believes it or even wants it tested, is a testament to his stupidity, plain and simple, and it is all there, for all to see.

Even the Thais can't cut a candle to Trump. The man spends hours every day making sure that everyone knows that he's a total, stark-raving, unhinged lunatic with little to no reality contact. At the least the Thais only do it from time to time, usually when they're speaking. Trump is always speaking, or tweeting. ????

They said Pasteur was "a sandwich short of a picnic" too.

I still cant believe it.

Trump was voted in as The president of the United States (POTUS) by the Americans, themselves! Not by the Thais or any such. So, if Trump is bad, what would you say about the people of the US?

Perhaps he could volunteer, get a liter of bleach pumped into his lungs and we can all watch what happens, keep the champagne cool.

It will be interesting to see how his Republican 'buddies' defend him this time.

Come on, you can't defend him on this. Do you need reminding what his job is?

But in trumps case they are right, and he proves it time and time again.

Fess up now......no excuses for this inexcusably dumb suggestion. Impossible to defend, but some here and in the US will try!!????

Not quite. He gave a presentation on how long the virus could survive on surfaces or in the air when exposed to heat, UV light, disinfectant and isopropyl alcohol - he didn't say they would kill an infection. There's a bit of a difference.

Trump, having just heard someone talk at length quite clearly and distinctly about things that would inactivate the virus outside the human body, then launched into a series of musings about using those things inside the human body.

There was no possible way, for anyone who can listen to, understand and process information correctly, to link a presentation about the effects of UV light, disinfectant etc on the virus in the open, to using those things inside the human body. Yet Trump somehow made that totally illogical and incorrect leap. One might almost be forgiven for concluding that Trump is actually incapable of correctly interpreting almost any information that is presented to him.

Is that another way of saying he is dumb, or perhaps stupid, or ignorant, or..........a long list so take your pick!

And the poor official he was asking if they were going to test it.  You know he's like "what the holy F" on the inside, and on the outside nodding his head in agreement just to avoid the wrath of Hair Furher.

Was he referring to hydrogen peroxide? If so taking small doses of food grade internally has been around for a long time. Tried it myself and I'm not dead. Whether would help with this have no idea. Read the ingredients for vaccines, H2O2 starts to look good. Externally best thing for gravel rashes.

No, the disinfectants referred to by the DHS official whose remarks Trump was reacting to, were household bleach and isopropyl alcohol.

Also, would you think of injecting hydrogen peroxide? I somehow doubt it.

Anyway, as I understand it, while you can gargle with hydrogen peroxide or use it as a mouthwash, you should never ingest it.

According to Healthline:

Quote

The key to safely gargling hydrogen peroxide is to make sure you never swallow it. This is true whether you’re using 3% hydrogen peroxide or 35% “food grade” hydrogen peroxide.

And tens of millions of Americans support him, what is your opinion about them?

Anything to distract attention from the facts under his watch, the US has four times the infections of any other country, and more than twice the number of deaths. This is the President who, along with Fox News, said coronavirus was not a problem.

You really have to see that video to appreciate what he did.

Is there not a paragraph in the US constitution that mentally sick people can't be president?
