I need to drive to Jomtien from Bangkok next Thursday, to check up on a family member. Can I do that? and once in Jomtien, can I drive around freely, or are there road restricions.

Obviously the beach is closed but that's not the reason for my visit. I'm just trying to find out if I'll be turned back once I get to Jomtien.

Thanks.

Just have your passport details with you and your friends address (if asked for) and you will (should) have no problem

i cannot help with BKK to Jomtien but i have inquired over Jomtien to BKK and then flying to Udon Thani, we rang the Tourist Authority BKK  who said you need nothing but your ID, the wife seemed quite happy so we will probably give it a go after 1st may. as this is TiT you may consider a double check but the lady did say you only need ID and no other paperwork when only domestic travel.

i have also seen that if you want to enter the lock down in Pattaya town you do need extra paperwork.

The lockdown is (currently) expected to go until 1 May so "next Thursday", being the 30th, means you'll encounter the checkpoints.

They've blocked off all the ways you can get into Jomtien (by vehicle) no matter which way you go. For Jomtien, there are checkpoints at the Thepprasit, Soi Boon Kanchana and Soi Chaiyapruek intersections. Other routes and U-turns are blocked off to prevent people from trying to sneak around the checkpoints.

(See diagrams 6 and 7 in this post: https://forum.thaivisa.com/topic/1160916-best-route-to-bangkok-hospital-pattaya-from-darkside/?do=findComment&comment=15328621
Note the Soi Chaiyapruek checkpoint used to be at another intersection about 3 kms South of Soi Chaiyapruek. They didn't update the diagram when they moved the checkpoint to Chaiyapruek so I didn't include that in the post.)

However, it apparently isn't a big deal to get through the checkpoints - for most people. They do a temperature check and there is a form you are supposed to have filled out (available at every 7-11 in the area apparently) and have your passport ready (or National ID card for Thais) and "proof of address"

Many report that they have an A4 photocopy of the front/back of their Thai driver's license on the dash of their car and that is sufficient. A lot of people travel from the East side of Pattaya into Jomtien and Pattaya everyday without problem.

It seems to be somewhat of a "hit or miss" when it comes to having to produce that form though. Probably best to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it (in which case I suspect they would turn you away).

Here is a blank copy of the form: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1L66Ahbdpvp7riHYdZiMuOtg7KIlf6n8a/view?fbclid=IwAR00cvVUy-J1t6mOByWvtLvXArspJ1-LIiRcX211HU0WgG7qeP0BlAVsQbE

It would seem to me to be ridiculous expecting a policeman to read any document placed on the dash of a vehicle which has dark tinted glass as do the majority of vehicles in Thailand.

Well, they generally do expect you to roll down your window when they do the temperature check.

Just saying.......
