Planes allowed 12-hour window for take-off and landings at airports

Aircraft will be allowed to take off and land at airports between 7am and 7pm as part of efforts to contain the spread of Covid-19, Chula Sukmanop, director-general of the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand, said on Sunday (May 3).

Yala province awaiting results of tests on 40 possible COVID-19 cases

A second set of swabs, taken from 40 asymptomatic in-patients at a hospital in Thailand’s Yala province, have been sent to a laboratory in Songkhla for analysis. This comes after new infections in Yaha district jumped by about 30% after initial tests on 78 people showed 24 of have COVID-19, said Dr. Songkran Maichum, head of Yala’s provincial health office, this evening (Sunday).

The owners of Pattaya’s 200 or so night spots offering vibrant forms of entertainment to foreign tourists fear that the virus pandemic could be a further nail in their coffin. Business was well down before Corona appeared on the scene as the hordes of fun-loving westerners have been gradually replaced by zero-sum, Chinese package first-timers in recent years.

Father Ray Care Center in Pattaya holds longest ever graduation ceremony

Each year the toddlers graduating from the Father Ray Day Care Center arrive together to receive their graduating certificates. This year, due to the current Covid-19 corona virus, the students arrived at twenty minute intervals, meaning the ceremony from start to finish took more than eight hours.

PHUKET: Twelve people were arrested in Phuket’s Muang District overnight for breaking the nationwide night curfew from 10pm to 4am, according to a report by the Phuket office of the Department of Local Administration (DLA) announced earlier today (May 3).

PHUKET: Patong Police officers on their way to the Deep South to pick up a suspect wanted for his role in the spate of bombings that rocked Southern Thailand, including Phuket, in 2016 came across a family of five riding on the one motorbike in Krabi heading home from Phuket to Yala, and gave them a lift.

(Reuters) - The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Sunday reported 1,122,486 U.S. cases of the new coronavirus, an increase of 29,671 cases from its previous count, and said the number of deaths had risen by 1,452 to 65,735.

40 confirmed Covid-19 cases surface in southern Yala province

A second set of swabs from 40 asymptomatic in-patients at a hospital in Yala, southern Thailand, were sent to a laboratory in neighbouring Songkhla for analysis. Now the health office has confirmed the 40 new Covid-19 cases in Yala. The huge spike in local cases has sent health officials scurrying to trace those who had been in contact with the contaminants.

Fugitive, 24, arrested on warrants for raping teenage girls, fraud

PHUKET: A 24-year-old man has been arrested on three outstanding arrest warrants, for raping two teenage girls in Phuket three years ago, and for using one of the girl’s identities to create a Facebook page in order to sell products online.
