I’m annoyed...

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

OK, it happens every year and I should be used to it

but I’m not. It upsets me, it annoys me and I still

don’t understand why all this <deleted> is needed.

I’m talking about the visit from Immigration.

To check on this evil Alien, a parole board visit.

We have to get a witness (again) that testifies that

this white-faced Alien lives here.

Absurd.

And absurd too that they had to get the directions

to our house from my wife, by telephone.

They have our drawn map, they have 12 freaking drawn

maps.

I’m annoyed...

Get a retirement extension then.

I feel your frustration. I'm not married however even if I was I think I would do extensions based on retirement.

I would hate a home visit and the witness would be deal breaker..

Same with us. Home the first time. Now no visit, no witness required. Easy peasy.

Absolutely no point in being annoyed or getting upset. It is what it is, deal with it.

Thanks for keeping it clean!

20 years now and nothing but polite IOs and never ever a home visit...

But, just remember what an average Thai would need to go through to live in your country.. if they could.

I know several Thais who live in my home country and none of them ever had a home visit by the authorities.

Also, the longer they stay, the easier things get. Not the same repetitive nonsense year after year.

I've Only ever had ONE Home Visit about 20 Years Ago 4 Officers stayed for about 30 Minutes then left NOTHING Since....& On Your'e 2nd Point My THAI Wife lived & Worked in The U.K For " Over 20 Years " on a " Right to Remain " Visa & NEVER Had one visit or Enquiry !!

just say hi ... and treat it as a welcome visit ... don't stress ... no issues .... just laugh and wai ...

it's all over in no time and it wasn't that painful now was it   !

I didn't say things are the same and don't know why you would think so... I did say it is more difficult for most Thais [actually impossible] to even visit a Western country - than it is for us to come and live here...

And sorry, but I just don't find the repetition to be difficult - I am glad how easy it is to live here.

Indeed, despite certain Embassies (looking at Brit / US / Aussie) in Thailand going out of their way to make it more of a hassle for certain of their long stay nationals to apply for yearly retirement extensions.

maybe because it is not the exact same country w/the exact same customs and rules... [ttut ttut, how jolly inconvenient]

I just don't get why people would go live in another culture, by choice, and expect that everything would be the same... next thing you will complain that the cabbies in Bkk don't know every street in the city by memory... overlooking that it is a 100 baht ride that might cost 1500 baht if they ran things your way... but you like the 30 baht noodle soup, the 'no or very low' property taxes, you like being here otherwise you would have left...

People from many Western countries can enter free for 30 days... can a Thai do that in UK? I know they can't in most Western countries...

Go get yourself a 100 baht foot massage at the local temple and try and enjoy the good things w/o complaining about a very minor inconvenience...

They do not have to do a darned thing in the US. Once they have a green card they are golden, never a report or much ado about nothing unless they want to visit the DHS or ICE center to take care of some new paperwork, it can all be done through the mail when the time to renew your green card, most do not...

I can totally feel for the OP being visited. Even once is too much in my book.

You could easily get thousands of participants if you started an online "Annoyed with Thai Immigration" club...

What is the big problem.......?

Are you marched off to be interrogated in a dark room at HQ, or are the visitors quite cordial and on their way, with smiles all round, with no big ploblem....?  :guitar:

apples and oranges - - there are costs involved in getting a green card and many requirements to meet.. much much more difficult to do then flying in to the airport and getting stamped in for 30 days free... one friend met all the qualifications for his wife and it still took a year to get... and if not married, she had no chance...

Far easier to meet requirements here...

Might be because too many people from the southern part of the hemisphere want to go to the northern part, where there is a civilised world, benefits for people without a job, democracy, safety, opportunities etc. The northern party of the world cannot accommodate all of the southern part...

Typically, people coming to Thailand have money, come to spend it on holidays, or make a new life here spending their savings. And enjoy some of the advantages of a third world country, uncivilised as they are. No laws on the road, girls available at a reasonable price, getting married again, having a new family, they are loveable are they not..

Quite a difference..
