The trouble is that Brits aren't moving on. Most people are pretty outraged. many are saying, "If he can break the rules, I will too". Its a PR disaster.

 

I can't, for the life of me understand why Boris keeps him on. There are many examples of government officials cacking on the government, they're just quietly shown the back door and its all forgotten. Why has Boris not done the same with Cummings? Its doing untold damage in the government's fight against corona virus.

Read the police statement. The reasons for there being no action taken are fully explained there. (Wouldn't have been prosecuted, though. Unless he was given a fixed penalty notice and refused to pay it. If you are going to comment on the procedures when someone breaks the lockdown you really should find out what they are first.)

 

But the big scandal is Number 10 lying on Cummings' behalf. Still no comment from you on that!

We are fighting a war against corona virus, Boris is the General and we are his soldiers. If the soldiers lose faith in the General, the war is lost. No one man should be bigger than the war against corona virus. Cummings should have fallen on his sword at the outset, this whole thing would have been a nothing burger, and we'd all be united in the fight against corona virus.

 

Don't forget Turing was shoved out of the back door by the government of the day, once he had done his work. He was seen as an embarrassment to the government due to being gay.

 

Cummings is now an embarrassment to the government.

This is why both Johnson's and Cummings' days are numbered. This is why the Tories will get rid of both of them at the earliest opportunity. They saw what having a leader the country doesn't trust did to Labour at the last election; they wont let that happen to them at the next one.

Exactly. I'm 8000 miles away and I don't give a toss. However my daughter and her husband are frontline workers in the NHS and they do give a toss. Actually, they're disgusted.

 

My best mate, who lives alone and has been beside himself during the lockdown, now doesn't give a toss. Insists he will break the guidelines at every opportunity. Even threatened to kick the back doors in at our local and have a party at the weekend.

Yes it has been a terrible week for the Tories, according to a poll by 'Politics for All' the Westminster voting intention for last week is Tories up +1 (45%) and Labour -3, (35%) I think the I hate Dom brigade are going to have to change their strategy, demonizing a man for a minor indescrestion clearly isn't working.

The British simply don't like bullying, they have tried it now for 4 or 5 years, it didn't work then, it won't work now.

Incidentally the man who claimed to have seen Dom on a second occasion admitted he lied and did it for a laugh, you just have to love the lefts sense of humour, havn't you.????

I can't find 'Politics for All' nor their survey results; do you have a link?

 

Meanwhile, a YouGov survey conducted on 29th and 30th May shows a different picture. 

 

The percentage who believe the Tories are out of touch has risen from 37% to 48%.

 

The percentage who believe the Tories are untrustworthy has risen from 36% to 47%

 

Other figures in that survey show an equally depressing result for the Tories.

 

Also from YouGov: "Following a tough week dominated by the actions of the Prime Minister's chief adviser, the Conservatives have seen their 15pt lead over Labour slip to just 6pts in the latest YouGov/Times voting intention figures. On 30th March Number 10 said Cummings and his family were self isolating at their London home. A lie; Cummings, his wife and son were all in Durham by then.

 

In response to reports that they had done so, Number 10 issued a statement saying Cummings and his family had not visited Barnard Castle; a lie, the reports were true, they had made that lockdown breaking trip.

 

Number 10 also said Cummings' father had not been questioned by Durham police; another lie, he had.

 

So, do you think it's ok for all governments to lie to us regardless of their political persuasion, such as Blair and WMD, or is it just Johnson and Cummings?

Well spotted I also have 6 litres of undrinkable UHT milk  from that mad time but I did what I was told and STAYED HOME as did my neighbours,friends, family and all good and honest citizens of whatever stripe.
