UPDATE: President Donald Trump plans to sign an executive order “pertaining to social media” on Thursday, according to White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany.

It’s unclear what the order will entail, but it follows the president’s threats to “strongly regulate” or close down social media platforms after Twitter slapped a fact-check link on two of his tweets.

 

Well let's hope the order includes that social media from now on are forbidden to post lies..........which means once and forever we never have to read Trump's posts again

The Internet Giants were given a legal-exemption to liability protections in exchange for NOT acting as "editors and publishers" - only "platforms."  They are not following the law, and should lose that protection.  Only promotion or commission of explicitly-illegal acts can be removed. 

 

THAT is what this is all about.  Trump is YEARS Late.  There should have been an order through the FCC to take this to court in 2017, when the mass-political-purges of YT, FB, Twitter accounts began.

Trump doesn't believe in MAGA.  Apparently, he never did.  Nothing "MAGA" has happened during his administration.  I won't side-track here by listing all the broken promises but, in any case, no fan of Trump, here. 

 

But this issue really isn't about Trump at its core - it's about the primary sources of information people use today being policially censored - banning comments or sources "they" (owners of those companies) don't "approve of."  That's bad for Everyone - not just the GOP.  It is EVIL - Orwell's memory hole actively purging recorded-history as it happens.

I have read something very similar. The analysis is that since Twitter is now acting as a content generator, they lose their protection. This appears to be a huge error on their part, especially knowing a company like Twitter no doubt has a legion of attorneys to keep them out of trouble.  It will be interesting to see how this unfolds.

As many others have pointed out to you, '1071 proven instances of voter fraud' out of a total voter turnout of some 138 million people who voted in 2016 (https://guides.libraries.psu.edu/post-election-2016/voter-turnout) represents a meager 0.0006%. In other words it's a non-issue but one that Trump and the GOP are keen to flog 'that mail-in ballots will be anything less that substantially fraudulent' as more voters do not bode well for either him nor the GOP. The GOP have benefitted for years through gerrymandering, voter suppression and no/limited mail-in voting so the idea of this happening (and it looks more likely in the midst of a pandemic) fills them with absolute dread and is why Trump is punting this stance whilst also providing no evidence to back his claim. This is why it was rightly fact checked and flagged 'unsubstantiated'.

With ant-vaxxers, dangerously false claims regarding C19, wild conspiracy theories and even the likes of flat-earthers, misinformation has thrived with social media, so social media has rightly come under a great deal of pressure to regulate it's content more thoroughly. Twitter has taken a stance of being more accountable for it's content, hence the flagging of this post. If you don't like it, no one is forcing you to use it.     

It is entirely hypocritical of Trump and Trump devotees to insist in one minute that you cannot let the likes of Al Qaeda, the PLO, Boko Haram etc spout their violent ideologies, hatred and lies but more home grown lies and misinformation from Trump are allowed. You can't have it both ways.

And finally, Trump hasn't been censored, he's been flagged for 'unsubstantiated' claims.
