The Padang Besar Customs House located in Songkhla province on the border with Malaysia has been closed for three days after six people who entered the office on the Malaysian side tested positive for Covid-19.

The Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur said that Padang Besar Customs House in Malaysia was closed to be sanitised, blocking passage of people from May 28-30.

Thais who expect to travel via the border in Sadao district will have to postpone their trip to May 31 instead and prepare a medical certificate that will be valid at the time.

The certificate can be requested at the Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur and the embassy’s office at the bus stop in Johor Bahru near Chokdee Thai Restaurant.

The other Malaysia-Thailand border houses in Satun, Yala and Narathiwat provinces remain open.
